    Good & Bad !!!!

You are going to get different opinions on this thread....here goes my thoughts.....look at the kid playing up..... Size,Maturity,Skills,ETC.....One thing is that you don't want to force a kid that is not ready to play with 18 year olds, and end up discouraging her....on the other hand if her body is matured to the size of an older kid ,and all the above are in order than playing up will challenge her to the next level, and hopefully create a better / stronger / mental athlete out of her,and she will be further in her athlecticism toward her goals...It is not always an easy decision to make ,but if you have been playing long enough you should be able to make a good transition to the next level if your DD is ready.....Remember each level you climb will need a slight adjustment in your DD's play, but it's the same game in the END....GURU

    If they're capable, they should...if they're not, they shouldn't.

I think bothsportsdad is talking about the smiles that appear on the right side when you post a message. If any of these offends anyone they can click on the smiling star on top right and select the ones that you want to see. Hope this helps.

i think it depends on the girl. our first travel ball coach pushed my dd and three or four others at the age of 13 up to 18u during the fall. questionable at first, but after first tournament jitters subsided, they competed with the rest and actuallly contributed to winning a black mountain tournament with the 18u team. playing up lets you see what you have to achieve, and in most cases, the better pitching you see, the better batter you'll become, and as a young pitcher, you learn real fast not to throw anything down the middle.
    jmo based on past experience.

Agreed!! CFBall gave a couple of our kids the opportunity a few years back. That was a good eye opener and learning experience. The 5-pitch has been notorious since that day.
