Cody Poarch came in relief when South played at Watauga to open conference play. I believe he faced three batters and got them out but I dont think he pitched but an inning so I didn't really get a good look at him. But yes, he did pitch.

    Watauga drops two to Reynolds

With Reynolds beating Watauga for the second time this year, can't really hand the crown to them. After losing to South Caldwell, Reynolds has reeled off six wins in a row, had three straight errorless games in that stretch and would have had a fourth one in a row but an error was committed with two outs in the final inning. The first four hitters are lethal and like to strike in the first inning. The team starts at least seven and sometimes eight freshmen. The rematch with South Caldwell is Friday the 27th. After a disappointing 5-2 start with losses to Roberson and Alexander Central, Reynolds has won nine of its last ten and avenged those two early losses in the rematches.

    WEST FORSYTH

With the 1 - 2 punch of Dustin Myers (6-0) and Tyler Coyle (8-0) they would be very hard to beat! Both Pitchers are Lefty's and have 4 pitches and throw low-mid 80's. Not saying it can't happen though, there are some very talented teams in the State. The CPC has to be the hardest conference in the state though game in and game out (East Rowan, Tabor, Davie, North Davidson, and West!!!)....They also have 3-4 great relief men. 1-9 hit the ball very well with 7 different people hitting HR's.

When they played Watauga (not taking anything away, Watauga is a great team, who played well that day) every player got to bat and play the field.....that's hard to do with 19 ball players, while West pitched their 4 and 5 pitchers.

Would love to see a playoff for JV's though but we all know that will never happen and would be tanted if it did!!
    Good Luck to all teams!

Watauga started someone on the hill that has only pitched 2 and 2/3rds innings since the 6th grade... West Forsyths hitting might be good... but it wasnt on that day... and thats part of the game. But Wataugas pitching and defense pretty much shut west down. Basically... West just lost... even if they did pitch their 4 and 5 pitchers... Watauga was doing about the same thing. On games like that both teams should step up and hit the ball extremely well... Watauga was the only team that did. Nothing to take away West was very solid, didnt make much mistakes other then baserunning. Good game.

Don't forget about south meck. They are loaded with freshmen talent and most of the time only start two sophmores. They have a strong lineup top to bottom that starts with a good lead off hitter and powerful and consistent 3,4,and 5 hitters. They play with a strong defense up the middle, good fielders at the corners, and fast outfielders that can trackdown almost anything. Not to mention pitchers who on any given day can throw a shut out and a switch hitting cather who blocks everything. They'll play weddington on tuesday, last time these two played weddington left with a 4-3 victory. But south led most of the game.

It is refreshing to know that SM still has a strong nucleus moving up

Providence is either the 2nd or 3rd best in SW4A...Weddington is clearly the best as said before with unbelievable hitting throughout their lineup. Myers Park and Providence are close and they could beat each other on any given day. Providence did beat Watauga 6-2 yesterday, and in my opinion showed more consistent defense. The sticks are a little slow at times

Watauga basically gave providence the game yesterday. In the last inning two bunts laid down that Watauga didnt execute on. Two errors that brought runs in. There was one hit the whole 7th inning for providence. Hats off to them for putting the ball in play. But no runs were earned in the 7th inning. The game should have ended 2-1 Watauga. It didnt and thats baseball. Poor execution by Watauga and its too bad they couldnt get the win for the pitcher who honestly pitched his heart out. I wish these two could have another game just to see what would happen. Heartbreaking loss for Watauga, with absolutely stellar defense up until the last inning. 2-1 going into the 7th.... 5 unearned runs in the 7th makes the final score 6-2. Tough loss for Watauga.
