A. C. Reynolds vs. Watauga game

The last time I felt this sick at a baseball game was when we had the brawl with Alexander. In the first inning with 2 strikes and 2 outs we threw a pitch that was clearly fouled off into the dirt. After a slight delay the umpire said that it was strike three and the batter was out. Our pitcher asked the umpire and the umpire said he was out. So we left the field. We looked up and saw the A.C. runners running around the bases. The umpire realized he screwed up and looked at our dugout and said it was strike 3 but he wasn't out. We scrambled to get the ball and stop the runners. One run scored on the play and another run scored on a passed ball. We had been sucker punched by this umpire. I was angry at the umpire for the call and at myself for not making my catcher throw the ball to first. We will do it from now on even if the president calls him out. It was heads up by A. C. to run. In the top of the 5th down 3-1 I told our team thier was only one way to fix this and that was to win the game. My hat goes off to our team for coming back. I also appreciate the first class comments by the A.C. fans. We always love going to A.C. where you will play on a great field, a well coached team, and in front of first class fans.

I don't think Poovey was at the game tonight. Heard some people talking who said he had elbow surgery this morning. If so I doubt he will be back at all this year. Anybody know anything about this

 

The surgery was this morning. All went well. He got home around 1:30. Has to keep it in a sling for a week then he will be able to start moving it around then. Thanks to all that keep him in their prayers

...just a little side note.
The umpires tonight were the same crew that umpired, excuse me BUTCHERED.. the AC Reynolds game vs. WHS last Friday.. they haven't improved since. They were downright terrible. They could've done better with a blindfold on. Some of the calls they made were ridiculous.

We gave up 8 runs.. some on the calls, some just well earned.
the 8 runs included a Grand Slam in the 2nd by Eric Chizz.

Good to hear it went well. I hate this happened to him this year. I think he would have had a big year. I wish him all the luck in the future.

 

Got to give credit to East Burke. Although there were some questionable calls, they battled back from the early deficit. Hard fought game. Friday night will be a BIG game for Watauga.
