Reasonable question with an obvious answer

I too don't have the information concerning fastpitch vs. slowpitch date in history marking that game change. I do know that any coach winning at this level knows HOW to win period. Is it due entirely to his fortune of great players? Is it due to his work ethic? Or is it due to his practice and teaching style? I don't know this coach personally. But I know he's a winner. Good job coach.
I look forward to congratulating you in person oneday.

You can be the best coach with a great game plan certainly, but if you have weak players in your program you won't win. You can make them better as the season progresses and be competitive, but you can't win without players that can produce consistently game to game.

That holds true for any sport, not just FP.

    Great job Coach..

Congrats Coach Sherrill , great job and good for your school and all of NC !!!!

jfagala , how do good softball coaches always end up with players that can produce consistently game to game. It must be the coaching but maybe @ the next level recruiting has alot to do with it --but to be at the top of the game it must be the coaching....

    Coaching Vs. Talent "JMO"

Coaching does play a major part in the game, but it is a process, and if you don't have the talent to match the coaching,it doesn't matter how good of coach you are,you want make champions out of a bunch of untrained ball players...For an IE. I'll use myself as a guinea pig, we had an awesome group of girls that over the past years have won (5) State Titles between them, 5th in the NSA World in 2004,runner up in the ASA State in 2006,won the WFC State in 2006,placed 3rd in the NSA State 2006 due to "RAIN", and won the WFC World in 2006 in Myrtle Beach. We had (3) coaches in the WFC World that did not know us tell us that we had one of best hitting teams they have ever seen..now I could get a big head, and say look like we produced, but the truth of the matter is that we had kids like Allie Cashion,Amanda McArthur,Lindsy Wright (BIG DOG),Holly Berry,Cynthia Hayes,Rebekah Reaves,Stacy Gamble,Jazzmine Robins,Courtney Cauthen, and even Anna Maness played with us one season, and played a big part on our team with her dynamic drop ball, and killer change-up...all these kids produced in a way that made them champions with or without any coaching skills from WAH,because they know the game !!! This comment has no reflection on Coach Sherrill by any means, this is strictly my opinion on talent vs.coaching.I would love to be as knowledgeable as Coach Sherrill, and have produced all those wins, and have the respect of the softball community as a great coach who knows the game....:michel:--GURU

    FP championships vs. SP championships

he has six total state championships 3 SP and 3 FP

    Slow Pitch: 1991, 1994, 1995 (@ Alexander)

    Fast Pitch: 1996 (Alexander), 2004, 2005 (@ Central Cab.)

I hope some day I can be half the coach he is, and make the impact on a players life that he made on mine.

    Thanks Coach.

guru, your closing comments were very nice indeed. you had me on my seat with "guinea pig". its tough to put a finger on what makes a team or player succeed. but theres no doubt that somewhere in that equation, a damn good coach was involved. play safe.
