Ok everyone. First let's keep it clean. I think we can discuss without getting personnal. I know that there are a many showcase teams out there. Some new, some old, and some that are not true showcase teams but use the terms. What are your feelings about them? I am sure there are many good and bad opinions. Please express them without attacking anyone. I think this post will be very popular, useful and can go for awhile if we keep with in the rules. I think you can discuss these teams and their positives and negatives without attack them or anyone. Remember, This is an open board and do it the right way. So let your fingers start typing.:feedback:

Plate Dad- TBR doesn't have a history of attacking members. Most of these posters have been here 3-6 years. The one's we have to watch are the newbies.

I'm from the school that all summer baseball is great. There are certain invitational teams that may be more talented than others, but if a kid is able to play baseball; I'm all for it.

Depending where you live, it's been my experience to play Legion ball in the summer and showcase in the fall.....except for the rising senior summer season. It's their 1st summer they and their parents can have personal contact with a college recruiter.

As far as Showcase teams are concerned, if you are going to play for one, play on the most talented team that you can.

Being a newbie!!! I also believe that if a kid is playing it is a great thing. As for the warning. I have seen how some can push the line sometimes and opinions are blocked.

Yep...some do and they are monitored the best that we can. It's when they are crossed that opinions are blocked. But, in general, TBR is not known for stirring the pot. That's not what we want to do.

Every now and then, a thread is titled to open up controversy. That's when the line gets crossed. There are many other websites people can go to do that. Has it happened here...yes. But fortunately, that's not been the focus of the board. The board was started to allow the players to get deserved recognition at a time when there was very little information found. In most cases, newspapers provide very little insight to HS baseball and particularly summer baseball. That hasn't changed...and TBR's purpose hasn't changed.

I'm glad that you are here. I'm looking forward to your insightful posts. I was not warning you, I was implying that the warnings that you provided was not really necessary.

Now, having said that...wait til Legion starts. Probably the only time where our standards really get tested. The people in their Legion communities love their team. They are passionate...and sometimes their passion gets the best of them :laugh4:

Well I guess with all that said. I heard that the top programs around the west side of the state is the Dirtbags and Carolina Copperheads. Not knowing much about either. I did see a post from the Old Angel Coach. Knowing a little about him and how his past travel teams where successful. It will be nice top see him back in it. I have seen thier website and looks like they are ready to build a very competative team. :dots:

Dirtbags are probably the only statewide team. Copperheads, On Deck, South Charlotte Panthers, Charlotte Heat and the MegaStars are some major showcase teams in the west. The Cubs are another respected program (mainly from the east).

I'm sure there are other teams that I failed to mention, but these are the one's that you will find at all of the top tournaments held during the summer.

One of things that make SC Panthers and the Copperheads unique is that they do not charge players a fee. (at least the teams that were coached by Tarleton and Evans.

    Plate Dad,

There are a lot of good showcase teams out there with the Dirtbags, Copperheads, On Deck, Cubs, South Charlotte Panthers etc....personally I'm a "Dirtbag" guy myself.

Most of it boils down to what you are looking for as each Team offers something different...

Glad to have you on board, look forward to your posts....:gnorsi:

Do you know what the fees are and include? It maybe some good info to have in the back pocket for the future.
