I didn't realize that as a fan I needed mental toughness to watch a HS baseball game. Its one thing for these guys to put their show on at Butler, but not at other folks parks in the middle of their stands.

I was at the game and some of the kids are a little overbearing but I really believe everyone knows its not a household scenario....Butler has played some really good ball this year and for whatever the reason, they really hadn't got the credit they deserve....Spencer Terry is a super pitcher and Butler has beaten him twice...To beat Weddington 3 times total, beat a good Providence team twice, and Audrey Kell three times, lets give some credit to Butler and not let a few fans determine any kind of knock on that ball club...14-0 in the conference, come on...Good luck to all the SW4A teams in the tournament...I think they'll make some noise!

Butler is a very good team and nobody wants to take that away from them. I think the issue is repect for the other fans that come to watch great SW4A baseball. It's great to have fun and cheer for your team but it gets out of hand when you cut down individual players. All players are doing their best. When fans asked those individuals to cool down, the fans were then heckeled.
Lets hope that during the state tounament that these fans have fun, cheer on the Butler team but also remember they are representing this area.

A Mountain Out of a Mole Hill

First of all we are making a Mountain Out of a Mole Hill here.

Butler beat Weddington because they are a significantly better team. They beat Providence for the exact same reason. The fans are no big deal. It's far worse at Football and Basketball games in the SW4A anyway.

As for the Pitching the other night.....I was very impressed. The Oatis boy hit his spots. Stayed ahead in the count. Kept the fastball on the outside corner. Got his Curve AND Change Up over consistently and limited Weddington to 2 harmless hits.

yeah how come its ok for fans to be crazy and obnoxious at football and basketball games but not at baseball and i think the point is the players need the mental toughness i can gaurentee as long as theirs no foul langauge or fighting words the heckeling isnt going to stop but i can promise that in playoff situations nothing will be said to a losing team after the game or during the game about their season being over

If you have ever been to a college baseball game, fans are always yelling at the players. I agree with Catcher10 that this is part of the mental training. You better to learn to block it out so you wont  let it affect your game.

And, lets not point fingers unless your hands are clean.:nono:
