    Ledford-Wilkes Central

    Ledford 9
    Wilkes Central 3

Sophomore Elijah Baker hit a solo HR and Freshman Luke Gragg had two hits in the loss for Wilkes Central. Congratulations to Ledford, they have a good club. Overall a disappointing season for central. They only loose 2 seniors so maybe next year.

    Parkland and Mooresville Summary

Two young but potentially very good teams.

Parkland 8, Mooresville 4: Tanner Beck went 3 for 4 to help Parkland past Mooresville last night in a first-round game of the Class 3-A playoffs in Mooresville.
Parkland led 1-0 when Beck led off the fourth inning with a home run. Jon Ray and Seth Mahaffey followed with singles, and after Trey McCraw was hit by a pitch, Kelly Surface doubled to clear the bases and give the Mustangs a 5-0 lead.
Ray (6-3) pitched a complete game for Parkland, which improved to 9-17 and advance to a second-round game at Southeast Guilford.

    Parkland 001 403 0 - 8 9 4
    Mooresville 000 200 2 - 4 6 4

Once again, "old" Angels making news!! A well deserved congrats to these guys and their "old" Angel's Coach! Good luck the rest of the way!!

P.S. I'm not sure but I think a couple of the other names mentioned are "old" Angels also.... If they were, I apologize for failing to highlight their accomplishments also......

Sorry so late in reporting but after we got back home I turned around and drove 3 hrs to my mom's for mothers day, arriving at 3:00 am....

The game was much closer than the indicated score. For 5 innings a pitchers duel between LHP Elliott Tolley (PER/ Anderson Univ) and RHP Tyler Wood (MC/ UNC-Pembroke). Elliott pitched a heckuva game and the D played well keeping an outstanding Middle Creek close. Middle Creek broke the game open with 6 runs after we had made a pitching change and he just didn't keep the ball down well enough.

All in all, Middle Creek with 8 seniors starting played a great game and their Coach, Jeremy Thompson an excellent young coach, deserve a lot of credit in this one...

Middle Creek will host Chapel Hill (an upset winner over Broughton) on Tuesday night in Apex.

    Records:
    Middle Creek 20-4
    Person 12-12
