Well both teams have something to play for,,,,,,,,,,, all year folks have been saying the only way South Caldwell will lose is in a one-game shocker. We have that potential here.

And all year Butler has been kicking folks tails and getting very little respect because of all the talk about first Providence, then South Caldwell and East Rutherford. But talk about Butler always seemed to take a back seat to these other teams.

South Caldwell has the edge with Bumgardner on the mound. But since Butler has pretty good talent too, and it may be possible that Butler has enough intangibles (reasons) to pull out this win.

Just remember one of these teams IS GOING TO LOSE,,,, and they won't be the first great HS baseball team to lose in the playoffs. I have always thought all of HS baseball playoffs should be 3 game series in every round. One game and out in baseball just stinks, but thats a neutral man's 2 cents in what should be a great baseball game.

Btw,,,,,,, sure wish Caldwell folks would quit bringing up that rocket homerun that MB hit against Kannapolis in last years state tourney,,,, just because it went from one county to another and had to call Greensboro airport for permission to land,,,,,,,,, heck I'm sure he's done that before... :bomb:

I figured after Harrington shut Butler down for the last 4 2/3 innings that the AC faithfuls would comment otherwise as far as Butler being pretty strong...The Myers Park faithfuls did the same thing after SC only beat them 2-0...Every team has that sort of game....
The kid from Myers Park who shut SC down for only 2 runs was beaten twice by Butler giving up more than 4 runs per game against them...

I think Butler was looking ahead and it almost cost them....teams do that at any level....Should be a good one Tuesday...I hope both teams play well....To me pound for pound these 2 teams are the best in the state especially if they played anybody in a best 2 out of three or more!

Stay in Cherryville with Bobby D and try to get him ready for legion season. Caldwell will be kicking butt and taking names all the way to Garner this year just like the SPARTANS have been doing.

    BTW

    South Caldwell .....4

    Butler ..... 2

Don't usually do that but I do feel good about Jeff Parham and his Spartans. :th_90edab00:

Wow, even us Cherryville fans aren't cocky enough to turn down fan support when it's being offered, even if it is coming from a big rival. Maybe that cockiness is the reason why you're looking for your first state ring in 25 years. Honestly, I hope SC puts up about 12 runs in the first inning on Butler and beats them like a yard dog, but if anybody thinks that's going to happen just because of who you have on the hill it could be a long night for you. Hopefully that cockiness in the stands isn't contagious to the guys in the dugout.

He also sent a message to the pitcher that he didnt think he could get by harrington with less then a double... I wouldnt put he had a great lot of faith in them in there. By intentionally walking someone your basically telling them your scared of them or telling your pitcher he cant get them out. With this said intentionally walking is part of the game and ive both coached and played to do it many times. Not saying that there is anything wrong with it... just saying that its not putting faith in your teams hands.

    Butler 3 - AC 2

Do you not still have to get the batters out behind Harrington and now with the possible winning run on base? After the walk, the game is not in jeopardy of being tied but could be lost (the coaches must have believed in something). Harrington being the quality player he is, deserves his due respect which Butler gave him. Baseball is based on percentages and I believe Butler coaches thought that their percentage for winning was better facing someone other than Harrington, they were correct.
