I was watching a great bunch of 16-18 teams play in a one day event on sunday. I over heard a conversation that was about face masks. Not batters helmets grid, but mostly pitchers masks. Someone in the stands said that her 8 yr. old, in a game, was told, yes by the ump that her mask was illegal. WHAT? TBR, I need your help.

I have NEVER heard of this one before. My dd has worn them in tournys and we see it every weekend so I think it had to be an isolated incident.

This is true GURU, some of the early face masks were made of an unapproved material. Masks must be stamped. I'm one of those who believe that a mask should be mandatory for all pitchers and third basemen!!!! I'm also one of those parents who put about $5000.00 in my dd's beautiful smile and wished she would have at least wore a mouth piece in her time, but she's just as stubborn as her mother, lol.

Examples of why the face mask is being used:....

Last year at forest city our pitcher got a line drive hit to her cheek bone and it swelled like a huge goose egg and knocked her silly for a while...

2 years ago was watching a 16u game in South Carolina and saw a first baseman catch a line drive right in the kisser, spit 4 teeth out in her hand and left in an ambulance. :22_yikes:

    Good reasons to be 'skeered'

point of interest....both were from the rocket tech.
