    what a tournament

I figure i'd post a little feedback on this tournament as i wait for my computer expert (daughter) to get up and help me figure out how to post some beautiful pictures of great ball players in this event.

what a complex, excellent fields, plenty of parking and warm up area, great job on the layout.

11 hours sat and 11 hours sunday watching some great ball games and i thought i might give my opinion about this, my first nc asa tournament.

sitting in my tent, i could watch two games at once. every game i watched went the full seven innings, my understanding is that only a couple went less than seven.

the umpiring was consistent in every aspect, same strike zone from ump to ump, team to team and game to game. i actuallly saw an incident where the home plate ump stopped the clock and then went over to a bench to explain a call. havent seen that ever!

HEY, THEY ACTUALLY STOPPED THE GAMES AT ABOUT NOON ON SUNDAY AND HAD A CHURCH SERVICE FOR THOSE WHO WANTED TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!

No trophies or metals, instead, equipment that you could actually use (bats, bat bags and gloves, shirts) were given out. I have a garage full of trophies and such, in the day, could have used the bat bags and bats.

It went so smooth, no arguments, no yelling (cheering yes), didnt hear any of the "umps are horrible" stuff, no unhappy faces at all.

five game minimun, ninety minute game time, think that's right, definately your money's worth in this one.

more later, along with some pictures of some great players, teams and some of our tbr members and families.

had a great time and might show up at the mighty casey this weekend to see ole paul.

ran into charlie dobbins (peace college). sat with him almost all saturday talking softball. great guy and has a great assistant (OC). Charlie has some great ideas for training equipment and amazed a lot of players with some of his gadgets. hope he brings them to the market, as they work to solve the most common problems a batter can have. hope your talk with my dd will bring her around to college softball, you really impressed her with you knowledge and i believe you left a lasting impression on this young lady, her coaching knowledge just moved up the scale about 30 points with your help. thanks charlie.

What a great weekend. Sorry i didn't get to stick around a little later, i get in trouble for talking ball a little too much. Witnessed the conversation between Morgan and Charlie. It was entertaining just to watch the two of them chatting up a game they both obviously love. Ben and the group put on a spectacular tourney even though i got put to work some.lol wonderful to see college coaches at a little tourney in Burlington (are you guys paying attention, how many times have you seen college coaches at NSA or USSSA events in that area). And just an interesting observation, it is good to see rather current standout North Carolina softball players using their summer to teach young ladies the game of softball and especially with the cardinals. thanks ed for all you did for the parents and kids and for the great stories.

sammie, it was a pleasure to meet you and your family, gonna post the pictures of your two kids, an awesome pitcher/catcher combination from same family, great stuff. you're right, college coaches in attendance and college girls coaching former teams, not just cardinals teams, but nc dominators and one other i cant remember had asst coaches currently in college, love of the game goes deep for some of our girls.

Good place to have a tournament, much better than Wlanut Creek were the states will be this week end. Did see some umpires not know the rules, a catcher was flat run over in one game and nothing happened on a play at the plate, ump looked like he was just out of high school.
