    Kannapolis-7 over Mooresville-6 (10 innings)

Kannapolis moves to 2-0 in Southern Division play (3-2 overall). Will be back at home tomorrow (Monday) night in a non-league game against Randolph County.

Robbie Gurley pitched well into the 7th inning tonight for Ktown, with Jay Hosack adding a 3-run homerun in the 1st inning to get the home team started. Mooresville took a 6-4 lead in the top of 9th inning, but Ktown scored 2 in bottom half to force extra innings. Another great win over a quality opponent.

Last I heard, unofficially that great pitching duel between Mocksville/Rowan turned into a 16-5 Rowan rout. Sorry no details on that game, maybe someone from Davie County or Rowan can give us some more info.

Tonight, Murray White got the win pitching 7 strong innings
Nick Oelker came in to close it out

    Murray White got 3 hits
Will Myers got 3 hits including a homerun
    Tyler Hickernell got 2 hits

    Rowan County-11 over Kannapolis-1

Rowan County is the real deal this year. Rowan is simply loaded in pitching. They're 3-0 having already pitched 3 college guys and I saw several other college pitchers on the bench. Weston Church (Catawba signee) pitched a complete game for Rowan to get the win, and Ross Steedley (UNCC signee) got things started for Rowan with a 3-run homerun in the 1st. Justin Roland is only a junior at East Rowan HS but no doubt he could be one of THE BEST shortstops in the state before he gets done playing, will definitely be a college catch for someone, little small in height but INCREDIBLE bat, glove, arm and speed. I'm sure college coaches are already all over him.

And for those who think legion ball has its problems,,, there was estimated 1000 folks at this game, 2 radio stations, 2 newspapers, and the winner's half of the half/half drawing was $247.00.

    Great night for baseball.

Oh btw, if folks will remember Kannapolis' Alex Edwards in their prayers, this young man tore an ACL during football season this past fall (his senior year), had surgery, and has slowly rehabbed back in hopes of getting back on the baseball field. He began DH'ing late during the HS baseball season but not playing the field until just last week in legion ball. During his first AB last night he injured his "other" leg, but not sure to what extent yet. If folks will just remember this young man, because he's a fine young man who's recently had some tough luck. Thanks.

Sounds like Rowan is the real deal... What's up with Burlington this summer? Looks like they have been getting drilled. Are they missing any players due to HS playoffs?

Burlington is just like us, they've probably lost some key players and they're searching for players to step up. They'll be ok, but its difficult to stay at the top every single year.

As for Rowan, well ignore what I just said, because it truly seems as though they are near the top every year. This year Rowan has super defense and they are deep in college level pitching. It will be difficult for teams to score runs on Rowan. As for offense, their leadoff man (Roland- ss) is cat quick and is great at getting on base. Their 345 hitters all hit with consistent power. After these hitters, a great pitcher can keep the others in the lineup somewhat reasonable, but the problem facing Rowan is they are so disciplined and do all the little things so well. A team will have to play a great game to beat them, and Rowan should be favored in any series with their pitching depth.

I picked Stanly earlier to be an Area 3 representative in Garner,,,,, but Rowan showed me a lot last night. I knew they had the pitching and defense, but they swing the sticks better than I realized. And not just against us, keep in mind Rowan scored 15 on Mocksville just 2 nights ago and Mocksville started a pretty good pitcher (John McDaniel- Pfeiffer).

Lexington-Davidson American Legion Post 8 bounced back from its season-opening defeat Sunday with a 17-5 win in seven innings Tuesday over Mooresville Post 66 in Mooresville.

Chaz Frank led the offense with a 4-for-4 effort, including a double and two RBIs. Zack Briggs added two doubles and three RBIs, Daniel Kassouf added two hits and three RBIs, Alex Grubb went 2-for-5 with a home run and scored twice, Ben Redmond had two hits and scored three times, and Matt Tysinger went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. In all, Post 8 banged out 15 hits to support Nathan Dunn, who threw a complete game and struck out seven.

Lexington, now 1-1, welcomes Rockingham at 7 tonight at Holt-Moffitt Field.
