No coverage at all for softball and baseball. I watched last night to see all the winners and it wasn't even mentioned. They do an entire hour for football. I emailed them and told them how disappointed I was. Everyone else should too.

    I sent an email...

Amen Guru!!! Here is the email I sent Mr. Little and others.
I have a question? Why is there never any softball coverage on the sports? Why are there never any girls sports covered on the sports? I didn't even have a child on the state championship teams and I think it should have been given the attention that it deserved. If you had a daughter on the state championship team, wouldn't you want her to get the attention, that she worked so hard to get? We sit through every football play by every, high school college, NFL, but we see nothing about the girls in HS or college! Yes, we would see the Sting's highlights but come on please! I do have a daughter that will be going to College here in NC, in the fall on a softball scholarship and I and her family and friends would love to get highlights from her college games! I know that this email will do no good, but I had to send it anyway, because the girls out here work just as hard, as the boys out here do. How about considereing some fairness in the coverage?

I sent this to all the local stations! I think someone needs to make it clear that we would like the girls to be covered as well! The local news is on, for 1 and 1/2 hours everyday, doesn't it seem like somewhere in that time frame, even if only once a week, that girls sports could get some coverage?

I was told that no one had called the scores in to wbtv. They said that on Sunday when they finally did learn of the scores, they had them at the top of every sportscast. That was 3 different times, 6;30, 10 and 11 pm.

It shouldn't have had to have been called in. It was the NC state championships. They should have had a crew there. Both baseball and softball were in the Raleigh area so one crew could have reported on both

    WBTV response

Wrote into some of the stations and heard back from WBTV. Here is her response:

Hi! My name is Danielle Trotta and I anchored the sports this past
weekend. I wanted to address your concerns and help clear up some
confusion you have about our high school coverage. We cover all high
school sports, and much more extensively than any other station in this
market. We have a special segment called The "Prep Zone" that runs
several times a week, all year long, on all types of high school
athletes that are doing wonderful things on the field, in the classroom
and in the community. I have personally gone to schools in our area to
interview athletes from many sports such as; Lacrosse (boys and girls)
Track and Field, Softball and baseball, and all within the past few
weeks. I am not sure how often you watch WBTV, but we do many other
sports besides volleyball and football. The reason scores were not
mentioned on Saturday for baseball and softball was because no one
called them in to us. We rely on you the viewer to give us the
information, just as much as you rely on us to report it. WBTV is very
dedicated to giving high school athletes the credit they so deserve.
Please I urge you to call us anytime you have any news on a high school
athlete, coach or team. Tell all the coaches, neighbors, and friends
you know to do the same. With your help our coverage will continue to
grow and make everyone involved happy. Thank you again for watching
    WBTV.

    My response back to her:
Thanks Danielle for the great response. Not sure where the baseball states took place, but softball was in Raleigh, NC and many of us locals were not there and looking for the results via TV. No one had any news on it and a bunch of us wrote in. Anyway, when something like this goes off and there has been coverage all year and you guys know when the state's are, we figured it would be covered. That is something that is so big we cannot believe all the news stations would not have a contact at the state's they could rely on for reporting purposes....if you rely on Joe public for that, you might get wrong info as well.

Just an opinion. Maybe next year we can get that covered better. Sincerely,
thanks again for all you do in the community!

    Agreed

SB1987 I agree with you 100%. There is not enough media time given to our DD for their hard work. I also wrote in to WBTV. And the response made no sense. If there was a fire downtown are they going to rely on the local public to report it for them? I don't think so. They went to sleep on this one. Thanks for giving us all the heads up.

If the fire was in downtown Raleigh would you expect them to cover it too?

    Coverage in the Piedmont

I happened to notice that WXII in Winston Salem actually had a camera crew there and had updates on the North Davidson and the Central Davidson games. They covered the ND games throughout the playoffs...a lot more than I thought they would.
