    Directions

TJ21.. I think when you leave the school you'll go back like you came...towards 421, but dont get back on 421, just continue over it. When the road ends turn left and take another immediate left and you will see it. You can ask someone at the game to make sure it is the same exit I'm thinking. I am actually from Boone and found this place a few weeks ago and have been twice since. Next time I go I'm going to try the ribs, they look wonderful. Anyway, good luck to you with the game and I hope you enjoy my suggestion. Let me know afterwards what you thought.

The Texas What-a-Burger chain is much larger (throughout the southeast Texas through Florida) but the NC What-a-Burger is the original. (The Texas chain unsucessfully tried to get the NC folks to stop using the name). The What-a-Burger Drive-In in Concord (no longer there....a Super-K took it's place in the mid-1990s) was the scene of some concerts and sock-hops in the 1960s and advertised frequently on the local Charlotte rock n roll station 610 WAYS-AM. (I WAS VEEERRRYYY YOUNG THEN)

Out of the few What-a-Burger's that are left, the one in MOORESVILLE is the best![IMG]

I would put the What-A-Burger in Mount Pleasant (#13)up against any that are left. Agreeing that the one in Mooresville is also very good! I do remember the one in Concord on hwy 29, they had customer appreciation day and sold what-a-burgers for .25 cents all day. It was a mad house!
I've also eaten at a What-A-Burger in Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth area) and although it appears the same, everything tastes a little different. Got that Tex/Mex going on down there.

    Speedy's Barbecue in Lexington

Best barbecue, IMHO, in North Carolina!
Always try to get in there everytime I'm in the area!

I haven't tried Speedy's yet, just Honey Monks, Smokey Joes, and The BBQ Center (they were all pretty good).

I think I've tried all of the remaining What-a-Burgers except the one in Mt. Pleasant. Thanks for the tip!

NPCFanatic, don't worry, we're not going to starve regardless of who we play in the playoffs. You're going with me to Brushy Mountain on the Wilkes trip aren't you? The man said "HOMEMADE ICE CREAM"... :clapclap:

Yes, it was good meeting you also! I understand that both teams were short due to beach trips, etc.
I arrived in the top of the 8th after returning from South Rowan for the Jr game so really don't know how the game was played!
