    UNC wins

UNC beat Louisville 3-1. Each team only 3 hits each in the game.

Putt- i'm not disagreeing with your logic, but you are speaking in terms of loyalty, commitment, honor and the right thing to do. There are many great coaches that display all of those characteristics, but the only thing I will say is this: wait until you get a season under your belt with college in general and the NCAA in particular. The more you get involved with this, I believe you will see where I am coming from.

BTW, there are no 4 year scholarships in baseball. Each year the coach decides what he wants to do. A parent and son must sign a new grant-in-aid each year

who could have seen this one coming? Putkonen was outstanding all day long. He gives up a bomb in the 1st and then goes out and shuts them down through 7. UNC has got to get the bats going and they have to get off to a better start with the pitching to advance. Im guessing Woodard will get the start against Rice in game 1 and then is anyones bracket to win if they pull that one out. Good Luck to the Heels!

I didn't get to see the game. I'm working football camp here at school and have been on campus all day the past few days (class 8-10:50, camp til 9:30/10). Luckily I got out a little early tonight.

I'd say it definitely was Putkonen's biggest game, he wasnt a weekend starter last year behind Miller Bard and Woodard, and didn't pitch any games in Omaha before bigger than today's elimination game.

He pitched very well and gave his team a chance. Maybe if the Heels can beat Rice twice we'll be able to see Putkonen in action again in the finals, perhaps against...Oregon State? that'd be sweet.

This is a joke right? Why would I need to check WCWS? I assume you capitalized "not" because you are emphasizing your point. Is there a bigger stage to pitch in college than the CWS? Since this is his very first start in the CWS, I'd say it was his biggest game to date. And the fact that it was win or the season is over for the Tar Heels, I'd say that was pretty important. So, enlighten us, what other games that he pitched were more important.

Oregon State is the only team to win the National title coming out of the losers bracket, so if UNC is to win it, they must do the same.

Dang man...there was no need to attack me. The fact that you don't understand...then ask.

By the way grouseone, aren't you the poster that asked this question? "who is Madison Bumgarner?" Now that is funny!
