no comments on todays game? I just finished watching on DVR.

Woodard pitched great today just like I knew he would. And Ackley with the big bomb to put the game away. And once again Carignan closes the door.

The pressure all goes back to Rice now. Carolina starters have gotten off the snide. I bet White would even have a good start tomorrow but I tink Fox throws Warren. The bullpen is rested and the Heels look lose.

Now that Ackley is hitting thy need to get Fedex back in the groove - he had some tough at bats today.

    Oreg St

how does that Oreg State team keep doing what they do in the post-season? The defending champions are once again headed back to the championship finals after beating Cal-Irvine tonight, 7-1.

Oreg State was a bubble team this year, with a losing record in the Pac-10 regular season conference play. Then they beat Va. twice in regionals, and swept Mich in super-regionals, & now unbeaten in the CWS.

I thought he would drop Ackley in the lineup before the first Rice game and was really surprised he didn't. I think it's good for him.

    A couple of observations...

    1) Is Andrew Carnigan a stud or what ?
    2) Is Rice coach Wayne Graham an idiot or what ?

What an unbelievable year for UNC. I really didn't believe they would get back to the CWS, much less to the Championship series. But it is tough to bet against a team with character and heart. Glad to see Ackley back hitting so well and what can you say about Adam Warren. The kid is cool as a cucumber.

and 007, you are right as usual...Carrignan is a stud!

i aint gonna bang on coach graham but it was kinda sad to hear sean mcdonnough and barry larking whine about the strike zone the entire bottom of the 7th inning after the Rice stud was caught looking to end the inning. then they continued to stoke the fires when they came back from the break. the ump may have given the outside half of the plate but at least he was consistant. hell, they gave the outside pitch this entire series. too bad the kid watched a 2 strike pitch into the mitt. too bad. so sad.

credit carolina for battling back after getting their tails kicked by the higher seed earlier in this series and later winning two straight against them to earn their spot in the finals. a bunch of north carolina home boys. hell yeah.

I think Coach Fox and the UNC coaching staff
deserves alot of credit as well.
They stuck with Ackley and corrected his swing.
They inserted Warren into White's spot in the rotation.
They bought Carnigan in at the perfect time.
They didn't go ballistic yelling/humiliating players and killing team morale like the opposing coach.

To be honest, those were the type coaches that I was used to. You tend to tune them out after awhile and they can make you tight during a tense situation. Obviously, I don't know that to be the case in his situation. But the man certainly can coach....his record speaks for itself. 5 National Champions in 11 years in junior college, one National Champion in the NCAA and all his former players seem to love him.

It's old school coaching and tends to make players mentally tougher. But I don't disagree with what you are saying.

This had to be the toughest decision for them as coaches...but it certainly was the right one.
