    AD/school board

Franklin has had the AD job for almost a year now and has done a decent job and this has nothing to do with him. Why does the board think they need another year to see how things go? Being a head coach should not deminish the job he does as AD. Our adminstration and school board is a joke, a disgrace and the laughing stock of WNC and most of the state. They make policies and then disreguard them or amend them to make things work out the way they want. This is just another in a long list of things. Its all bull.....By the way, where was the 'interview committee' for the baseball coaching job and the AD job???
But I guess the biggest question is When will the people of McD Co. wake up and vote out these arrogant self serving members????

I believe the :interview committee: was a big cop out for the school board. This "committee" will not be running for re-election next year. Now when asked about the Silver decession all they do is say they had no choose but to vote for coach Franklin because he was the ONLY name submitted by the "committee". What a joke.:laugh3:

Are you saying coach Church did not do a good job as AD. I know for a fact that coach Church was very dedicated to his job. He put many hours into his work and could be seen at almost every sporting event during the school year.

I also think Church did a good job. He was just not a 'people person' but thats no reason to do what they did to him. And yes, the committee was a 'cop out'. Coach Silver was lied to and set up by several people. Look at this..
Quotes from the McDowell News on Franklin: "We’ve not reversed the policy; we’ve not changed the policy," Owenby stated. "We’ve made an exception for one year based on the fact that (Franklin) was the best person for the job."
"Superintendent Ira Trollinger said he recommended the board give Franklin a shot at both jobs because he felt, after conferring with high school administration............that it was the best move "The question I had was: Can I do better than what we currently have?" Trollinger said. "We just felt like we really had a person that had won the confidence of many people. This gives us a chance to see if it works. I’d never recommend it if I didn’t think it would work."

Did Trollinger and Talbert and a few board members not think Silver would work out or he was not the best person for the job?? Ha...as you said...its a joke!!!!! And a disgrace to us.....
WOW, I guess they can make 'exceptions' to anything they want to.
Franklin should have had to resign the AD job after he got the bb job (or before he even interviewed) and then reapplied for it if he wanted it. Trollinger could have recommended that Silver keep the bb job but as you said, this way was a cop out. You better believe a few people dictated to one or two committee members and they led the others.
Next year look for either Franklin to give up the AD job or the board decide to get an AD not tied to any school to govern all the secondary schools. Then again, they may just change their policy thinking it will never be noticed by the public and it probably would not be. Again 'another' cop out for the board.
    WAKE UP McD Co. !!!!!!!!!!

I'm confused... Church was AD and head BB coach, the board made him relinquish his AD job (took it away from him) Now Franklin is AD and head BB coach... is this not the same thing? How can the board say it wasn't good for Church but good for Franklin AFTER they made a policy against it? Sounds to me like they've just opened the door for Church to launch a discrimination law suit aginst the school board. Maybe that's what it's going to take to open those litte pea brains of theirs. I'm not saying Franklin can't do the job, I'm just saying as a long time supporter of Titan Athletics I was thrilled when it looked like we would actually have an AD that didn't have to split his time between two jobs. It's a sorry state when you are the largest 4A school around and you're athletic program is sub - standard due to the lack of support from the school board. The board has again made Mcdowell County the laughing stock of NC High School Athletics. I've already decided come next election time if you are a current school board member you won't be getting my vote.

Now titanfanforever don't hold this against the school board, they had no choice how to vote on this issue because the "committee" recomended only Franklin for the job.
