I love to watch Carignan pitch - he flat out goes after the hitters throwing strike after strike. He has such great control, working the corners and never leaving one over the plate. He gets a lot of calls but the great ones usually do.

I'm not really that worried about White starting. He's the most rested, has had a few days to get his head right and hopefully the staff has worked with him like they did Woodard and Ackley. The Heels have a ton of momentum and the pitchers feed off that too. They are hitting and fielding great and have three straight quality starts. No reason to think White won't continue that trend. Hopefully he'll get a little run support early.

He actually didn't pitch that badly against Rice. Fox yanked him early (just like he did Woodard) because he has the bullpen to take care of business. Who knows, White may be able to pitch through it and get better later in the game.

It will be nice to have Woodard and Putkonen ready to games 2-3 with some extra rest.

oh and Triadman - if you really are Jeremy Hall congrats on that win and that HR. I don't remember you being skinny.

That was a typical Ragsdale - SWG game. Always tight, competitive and down to the last pitch. I thought Ragsdale had that game locked up but you guys never quit. Play of game was when Wallace tried to turn the double play and the ball got by O Berry. That extra run killed us but you can't fault a kid for trying to make a play.

Can't wait to see those teams hook up twice in the regular season next year.

Alex White is going to be an excellent pitcher. He has gone through a freshmen season that most power pitchers go through. That the stuff that got them through HS will not get you through college. It's a learning process that takes time. I firmly believe that White has begun understanding that changing speeds and location is a must.

He is a special pitcher...and I'm hoping that everything comes together tonight for him. But I would have Luke ready just in case. Adam Warren has proven that he can handle a spot in the rotation, so saving Putkonen for tomorrow is not as important.

God I hate these black jerseys and hats but they were the jerseys that Carolina wore to get back in it so, if it keeps the momentum up, I'm all for it.

Announcers doing a great job... Ackley hit .500 for a month in the SEC, and White has been called Reyes....

And how do these "experts", Hershiser and Larkin, not understand what constitutes a force play, and what is NOT a force play?

Simply remember, as soon as the batter is out, any force no longer exists....
