I also am looking foward to seeing some great games between McDowell and Freedom this year. This great rivalry may soon be doomed with the addition of the new schools in Burke County and McDowell. I do hope you guys get your fan support back this year. It was sad to see the small crowds at the Freedom games last year. I can remember when the Freedom gym rocked like McDowells when these two teams got together at Freedom. See ya in november.

Players who will have major impact this year

I wanted to know who are some players who did not get much of a chance to show what they can do last year but will have an impact this year. For Freedom it is Blake Moore and Justin Micheaux. Blake was our sixth man from last year and he should become a starter this year he is one of those guys who can do a little bit of everything:shoot, drive, guard u name it. Justin came on strong at the end of last year and scored 20+ points in conference tourney game against SCHS.

At Watauga watch out for Adam Chiarolanzio, good size, fast kid. Alan Herndon (replaced Seth Moore last season) will step up as well, he's a pretty good player inside, not the best shooter but still a solid player.

You're right about blake..this justin cat is very unheard of.. ive asked around and apparently he's not gonna make that much of an impact..2 players that will make a pretty big impact for McDowell...Brian Twitty...Brock Barnett...Brian is Chris' little brother and has the same killer mentality that Chris had and is a better point guard..not necessarily a better scorer but a play maker at its best..its just crazy how everything at McDowell is set up to be better than we were last year..if you didn't know..3rd team in the state last year...hold the appalause..Brock is a perfect compliment to Petey in the post..Brock hasn't been able to shine the last couple of years because of Brian Greene and this past year filled with injuries..

This past week i had to help out at the freedom team camp and here some of the results:
    Freedom 5-0
    McDowell 3-0
    Shelby 3-2
    N. Buncombe 3-2

Petey and Buggy were amazing but i still did not see much out of Barnett, Twitty and Simioke were both wearing street clothes.

Freedom was the only team to go 5-0 but McDowell did not play both days, both Clifton Avery and Sam ford did not play in any games. All in all a great showing by the NW4A

Dan and Brian's ankle are both messed up. Brian is out till August and Dan is out for 4-6 more weeks.

Brock will start. The only reason Dan started last year was cuz Brock was out with the injuries..Dan is still a good player but Brock works harder and is stronger..again..he is the perfect compliment to Petey.
