You mean like in HS ball....

You mean like when a kid plays for a HS ball team she doesn't live in the area for?

    Let's spin it this way.....

If a coach recruits and assembles a team, there is an obligation to perform a task based on the title.... TO ACTUALLY COACH..... This means having a specific plan how to make every kid better and successful within the framework of the team... I don't see many that perform that role very well.. There are allot of screamers and dirt kickers...which is very ironic, since they are usually the reason the kid failed..

Maybe the players should start looking to bring in a "ringer coach" for the big tournament.

This CRAP as it is called....

This crap as it has been called in prior posts has been going on since the game of softball was discovered. Unfortunately in the real world people will do WHATEVER it takes to get their DD what she wants or what they want for her! If that means walking over top of your DD, to do it, OK, if that means buying the coach (or a large slice of the organization), OK, if that means pretending to be friends, with the parents of a player on the team, you want your DD on, OK, there is no limit to what will be (or has been) done.
It is up to the parents of each player to decide whether their DD will play for an organization that would do these sort of things, or for a coach with these morals/values!
Oh yeah, and if you have carried out these behaviors yourself, before, DON'T have the AUDACITY to call others on it!

Why do you hide behind Maggie? Why not use your other screen name(s) where people know who you are? Cant believe you even started this thread :stirthepot: "Bringing In Players" what a joke! Isn't this like the kettle calling the pot black.

Wow! All those TB'ers who slam HS ball during the spring. Looks like everything's not hunky-dory in the TB world!

    College players

Where did this thread get to be about what I do. First, in all the Nationals that I was involved, we brought one college player back to help, Meredith O'Connor. All the Blues players benefitted by making Nationals as all played in front of up to 300 coaches that attend. (Before I get ridiculed, all 300, did not watch the Blues I am sure but we got to play seven plus games with an average of 15 per game watching the Blues and teams we played. The Gold team this year took a couple college signees as a couple of our players could not attend and the state games conflicted with the 18A Showcase which made me have to bring up a 14U player (she did a very nice job) and Gina Allen so I could play. We are picking no one up for the qualifier or state and as far as I know neither is the Gold team.
I simply made a comment to Maggie to expalin why some teams do pick up players. Just FYI, most GOLD teams are made up of college players and signed HS seniors! The Blues are one of the younger teams and will be younger as we get enough quality girls to play GOLD.
Lastly and I will shut up, I try to explain to my players why I do things, sometimes that creates more problems for me but at least I feel better.
Keep the stones coming, I have gotten use to all the second guessing, "back seat coaches ", slaps at how and why the Blues do things the way they do but it does not matter, we will continue to do things to try and help all our girls be seen and signed. Ray Chandler has done it right for years and we used many of his ideas when we started and I hope by the time I quit that many girls lives will be changed for the better and that they will get a chance to play college ball if that is their desire.
The Blues are just one little organization in a world of softball teams, we just want to do our thing and do it well and play hard and clean. We respect all the other teams and players and just want to play ball and get the coaches to watch, no more no less!
Best to all of U and U have every right to do your own thing and to disagree with our ways. Good luck to all this summer.
