    Well.. the horrible pitchng they have with tyler moore threw a complete 1 run 8 strikeout game today followed by sharpe in the second game taking a one hitter through 6 1/3... ethan will be starting tomorrow.. probably shouldnt count them out and make assumptions when you dont know

    ACR will be down next year, they will be decent but not up to the lofty standards of the past two years.

    The returning varsity portion of "this group" actually struck out 35% of the time, while the departing players whiffed 29%, so give yourself an error on this one.
    The real reason "this group won't have that problem" is because
    they won't have to face;
    Bumgarner 3 times
    Harrington 2 times
    Runion,McDaniel,Davis...and the other guys who graduated.
    The "huge problem" was the quality of the opposing pitching moreso than the inferiority of Watauga's hitters.

    We won the Best of Boone USSSA Tournament today with a final record of 4-0.
    Tyler Moore, John Sharpe, Ethan Moyer & Trey Dunnigan pick up wins in each game...all four started their respective games. Home Runs: Dunnigan (2), Baine Martin (1), Adam Church (1)...well played tournament.
    I don't know the stats really...just know we won. Pretty excited...:)

    I think 4 1/3 innings...1 or 2 K's...maybe one run. Gave up few hits..that's about all I remember. I'm still quite delusional from the heat.

    007- You are correct sir on the quality of pitching we faced. I think alot of the strikeouts did have to do with that. But no matter where they came from, watauga needs to cut down on them.

    Pioneer-Pride16- when do yall play again in Boone? I would love to get out and watch yall play.

    The strikeouts were a combo of high quality pitching and lack of varsity experience. If you look at "this group's" stats combined with a guy with very limited prior varsity at bats (Chaz) along with a guy with zero prior varsity at bats (Rich) and subtract Moyer's numbers (who had a full year of varsity AB's in 06), you get 329 AB's in which players were seeing varsity pitching pretty much for the first time. Throw this number in with arguably the best in conference pitching Watauga has ever had to face, and it's not too hard to see why the strikeout record fell.

    Either way a stike out is a strikeout. Watauga had too many last year...no excuses. Yes, the pitching was good but I recall Harrington striking out 17 batters one game. That is a ton of strikeouts and even though he is a really good pitcher, 17 is too many. I mean you can put up an argument that the pitching was overpowering, but they struck out a ridiculous amount of times. Thats just my opinion.

    But...there is no doubt the pitching in the NW4A this year was the best its ever been
