Pilkington threw the no-hitter Wednesday, faced 2 over min, I believe he was also 3-3 in the game. Heard he was touching 89MPH. SC Panthers are 2-1 with a 4-1 win Today WP: Bard Dirtbags also won 2 games Thursday.

    I sat right behind

home plate for the entire game. Pilkington was outstanding as was the defense. Pilkington has great controll of his stuff. His change up was outstanding getting several guys with called third strikes on the outside corner. He pitched in the 84-85 range with his fastball. I was right beside a stalker the entire game. He did impress quite a few college coaches with his ability to locate and change speeds. He pitched a heck of a game. On Deck played a very good game , moving runners and playing great defense.

Interesting how he was throwing 84-85 and once the rumor mill gets it he was touching 89.

I saw that at an IMPACT showcase at Wake. I watched kids consistantly pitch certain speeds yet when the info hits the internet they were 5 mph faster. I heard how everyone was killing it at the plate. I saw 11 hits in two 8 inning games. Saw several talented younger kids that I heard were hitting anywhere from 80-83 but actually 75-78. What I'm quickly learning is that once you get past the hype and get the facts not many people throw it 90 mph.

I did see some obviously good players. Seth Baldwin looked very good. I think that was his name. ER kid. This kid Brian Goodwin out of Rocky Mount is the real deal and Nick Mcbride pitched one inning and looked the best I have seen him throw. Will Henderson also looked good.

I agree, gun readings seem to be over exagerated all the time 90+ is few and far between but if you believe the boards there a dime a dozen. I know someone who was there at that game, the Pilkington no hitter and they said he was consistently 84-85 and hit 87 a few times. So what I was originally told about 89 was incorrect. But thats what second hand info generally is.

I agree with ya. I didn't mean to contradict you. Just saying thisngs get inflated down the line.

Tell you a little story. When my son was on a 14U team (the Angels) I took 4 boys down to Atlanta to play for their team in a Super NIT. One day there was a guy there with a gun and my son and 4 other Angel pitchers were on the mound over the 2 games. This one kid threw consistantly 73-74. ONE pitch hit 75. That's what he heard. By the time we got back to the hotel he was telling everyone he threw 76-77. On the way home the next day he called his Dad and told him he threw 78. The next week I heard at the school field from parents that so and so was throwing 80-81 in Atlanta. The farther we drove the faster he got. If we would have been driving to New York/ PA. area he would have been drafted on the spot.

Now Putt...everyone understands that Internet Rule, "subtract 5 mph to whatever is posted"...just kidding. But I can tell you that it hurts a kid when people post velocity that is not accurate. Someone will say Jeff X cruised at 88-89...scouts go and check him out and find out he was cruising 83-84...and they think something is wrong with him (hurt arm). Nothing will scare a scout quicker than a hurt arm.
