    Agree

It is a sad day where school admin. use of politics is how they measure their sucess. My father was a teacher during the 70-s and 80's. It has been my experance that they do this for the lack of pay. Saying they talk to the community is a crock full of it. My son's school has just went though the same thing. AD last year and two varsisty coaches this year. If there were no politics involed in the AD choice. Some one needs to look up the term Athletic Director. As for the coaching positions let's say mom's and dad's helped a lot by raising heck early.:gunsmilie: :gunsmilie: They do not help in the funding but are quick to change things to their favor. :evil2: :evil2:

    That's

politics. They see things go up ten levels with change. In their minds. They do not take into account that the most people look at change as a bad thing, if things are going well. A little power can make some of the greatest mistakes.
Playing well for a kid is not a on/off switch. Players look for trusting in coaching. If they could do it without the coaches knowledge. There would be teams everywhere dump coaches and do it themselves. Let's look at it from left field. If a kid's parents part ways (nice term), the first thing most kids do is blame themselves. Now put 12 to 16 kids in the mix. If one player would have this problem, his performance is going to drop. Now back to the 12 or 16. SEE what could happen. In the words of someone smarter than most: : IF IT IS NOT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!!

On top of how this was handled, Hurley is an interesting choice. Not much baseball experience there. Don't know the man personally. Good luck to the kids and new coach down there. Here's hoping it is a smooth transition. LOTG wasn't far off in hearing about this. I'm curious who else applied.

    All Politics

Nothing against Hurley, for my son's sake I hope he does a great job.
But I assure you the public and parents were not consulted with this decision.

:laugh4: ..I didn't think so. As Caroliner stated, it sounded like "Principal speak". I'm sure Coach Hurley will do an outstanding job. It's time to circle the wagons and support the new coach.

Agreed. Here's to hoping everyone gets behind the new coach for the benefit of the kids.

    Good Luck Coach

Remember make sure you dont make any of those young men mad at you. I would hate for them to go home and tell mom and dad. Then they will be mad at you. Then they will go and tell the AD. And he will be mad at you. Then they will consult the community and you will be looking for a job too. Forget all the good you may have done. Forget all the kids you helped in ways that no one else will ever know about. Forget all the hours you put in making "all" those bucks. Forget about the extra time spent on the phone the internet and at the fields during the summer and fall promoting your kids and teaching them about baseball. One "Oh S***" negates years of dedication and loyalty to the program. Good luck coach. I really hope you have a nice run. But I really hope you dont make anyone mad or at least the wrong person mad. Then we will be reading about the new coach and how we all hope he does well. And we will be hoping you find a nice new place to go and coach.

Why Kenny...I note a sense of sarcasm in your post:laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: as always, you are correct.

One of the reasons I have so much respect for most HS coaches is because they do this because they care. If it was for the money, you couldn't pay me enough to deal with the things HS coaches have to deal with. The first time some parent came knocking on my door to discuss their son's playing time.....slam...the door is shut.

I'm convinced the only shield a HS coach has to protect him from outside politics is by having an unbelievable record every year. Or....being married to the Principal (sometimes that helps, but she better be a she)

Please tell me that's not the case.

If David Brown is interested in the Charlotte area, have him contact me.
