the job has been offered to Paul Knight of Florida tech and formerly of Wingate and methodist college.....

talked to him today for the second time. seems like a good guy with a lot of ambition for the position. For LR people let me just say there were worse candidates being highly considered.

He has not officially taken the job but he is already giving me instructions for the next few weeks until he moves up here So I can safely print this..

Just thought all the LR people out there who are freaking out like I have been deserve the latest info

Paul Knight is a great guy who has an outstanding mind for pitching. I worked with him when I was younger and he taught me so many things about pitching. I was hoping Wingate would have picked him up but best of luck to both programs with their new choice and to Paul Knight himself if he gets the job.

I am sure that Paul Knight is a great person and coach, but I really wished that LR would have given Hendricks a shot at leading the program. I have a lot of respect for him and he definitely earned that opportunity for all that he has done for LR and LR baseball. That program is on the rise and that is primarily because of John. Keep your head up John, I am sure the players there appreciate and respect all that you have done. How is it going to work that Knight is a pitching guy and Hendricks has been running the pitching staff for the last few years?

Coach Hendricks has had a number of opportunites presented. He will not be staying with LR. This has been a gut wrenching time for John. He gave his soul to the program and he will be sorely missed.

I just want to thank everyone who has said such nice things about me and those who took the time to let AD McGeachy know how much you all wanted to see me get the job. THANK YOU!

The whole truth is that before McGeachy was barraged with emails and phone calls on my behalf he had no idea what type of coach or a person I was. It is only in the last month that we have even sat down and talked to each other for more than five minutes. The fact is that I was never really even in the running for the job. he wasn't even considering me until he found out what the players and parents felt. I think LR hired a great coach who will lead lr baseball to success.

My interview was a courtesy to you all.

This morning mcgeachy offered me the position of associate head coach. Really nothing changes for me and Paul night is my boss. I thought it was a nice effort on his part to keep me at LR. not as nice as being the head coach but he made a good hire.

Thank you all again. I think for me the best part of this whole process has been the genuine caring and concern i have received from the LR folk and friends. It lets me know I have been doing things the right way. I have always told myself to put the players before my own image. Because of that I think i have made relationships that will last forever no matter where the career path takes me.

    Big John,

You are the man in my book. As we have talked about in the past few weeks, the doors that have/will open are going to lead to new and better things. I know you love your kids at LR but the administration obviously are clueless. You are one of the good guys and I know that you land on your feet with whatever you decide to do.
