I heard through the grapevine that Madison Bumgarner has signed a letter of intent to San Jacinto CC in Texas. It is the same CC that Roger Clemens went to. Any thoughts?

Yep...it means the deal is still not done yet. It's the same strategy that Cameron Maybin and Justin Upton took. The only time Madison will see Texas will be in a ML uniform.

    Why?

Tell me why he would do this instead of honoring his committment to UNC? Is it because of being draft eligible? How can he get out of his letter to UNC?

Junior Colleges are not held to NLI. This strategy is used every year by a select few HS players picked in the 1st round. It just buys them more time.

The deal will get done, then everybody will forget about San Juacinto

    I thought

that he was waiting till 18 B-day. Strange how the system works. I would think it would not be about money at this point, just sign here. Guess I need to go to agent school.

I was wondering the UNC line on DB website. Understand the offer and letter. Thought that would have changed. Guess we do not know everything. The learning curve.

I honestly feel that if he goes to UNc that would be a big mistake personally. If he doesn't sign then he needs to go the JUCO route. Many great players have came out of San Jacinto CC. If he goes to UNC then he has to wait til his junior year to even be thought of. But best of luck to him no matter what he decided on.

It's never about the money :laugh4: Seriously, my guess is in the details; when they must bring him up to the club (40 man roster), so he can start the clock ticking on free agent status and pension. Things like that. Plus the most important one....Braves' box seats when he is brought up for his inaugural game. But I bet the money party is pretty close.

This is big time negotiations...alot of posturing and leveraging going on. The bottom line is the Giants want to sign him and Bumgarner wants to sign...so they will get the deal done.
