    talk about class

Coach Evans and Coach Freddy did not really know this BUT they were being watched real closely at the tournament and all i can say is "outstanding class guys" as well as excellent coaches. with one break going their way they could have won the tournament. to me the 4 best teams were the Cubs, Senior Canes, Copperheads and the North Canes. the Richmond Rise were a good surprise team as well.

    All I want

is consistency from the umpires. And umpires that are not out there trying to be the show. This weekend the umpires were consistent. If it was a strike in the first inning it was a strike in the 7th etc etc. I dont think I have ever agreed with every call in a game. But as long as the guys are getting in posistion and stay consistent then I dont have any problems at all and my players better not either. I do have a problem with coaches that gripe and whine over every call that does not go their way. Shut up and coach the game and respect the umpires. If your going to get tossed then make sure its a legitimate gripe and your ready to get out of the heat. The guys this weekend were outstanding. Richard is one of the best I have seen this year HS Showcase etc. His guys were outstanding all weekend long. I will put that word in for you guys RS. See you soon.

As far as your gatorade Steve , you guys were handing it to us so good I plum forgot. I will get you next time around!

    Championship game

I had the opportunity to watch the championship game between the Canes and Cubs, with the Cubs winning 6-2. It was an awesome display of two talented, well coached teams. In a nutshell, Trent Whitehead ('07 ECU) broke the game open, in the 2nd, with a bases loade double off of the left field fence. Kris Richards' ('08 West Johnston) bomb in the fifth gave the Cubs a little cushion. The Cubs pitched three underclassmen which says a lot for only allowing two runs against the potent Canes' offense. I also heard that Whitehead and Zach Briggs ('08 App. St) only got out three time apiece in six games. Pretty remarkable. Has anyone else heard or seen any stats from the tournament?
