For the last three or four weeks, we've been kicking around the possibility of two interviews with players.

first one would be an interview with someone who has actually completed a year or two of college.

second one would be with someone who is going to be a freshman this year.

would like one to be a pitcher, but not both.

can we get some feedback from the crowd as to who you would like to be interviewed on tbr softball forum

hey Ed, how about for the college girl you get in touch with Mendy McKenzie who not only will experience two different colleges but also has shown a recent aptitude for coaching younger girls. Maybe BMac can help with this one. And for the incoming freshman, i would love to see the Grieve girl who is going to Tenn. and i personally don't think gets the recognition she deserves. While Ashton, Glosson, Childers and all the others were the names(deservedly so), this young lady just kept plugging along and may be the diamond in the rough out of the ladies headed to college. Another idea maybe Chastity Covington and how the tragedy at VT affected her and where she decided to go.

How about Kendayl Waugh ? She has been the Cobras inspiration all summer. She has been more of a warrior than anyone on the ballfield.

You've brought up some very good points, missing link...and most I agree with. Allow me to address some of those.

    - I agree that people get tired of reading the same ole, same ole names. I would like for people in all of the areas to bring up the names and accomplishments of players in their area. We have posters from every region in this state. There is no reason that players go unnoticed.

    - Interviews are a little different. Even though people get tired of seeing the same names discussed, it would be nice to read what those same players have to say vs what is written about them. How do they handle adversity? How do they handle jealousy? What they believe has made them successful? What kind of coach motivates them? What are their future plans? Basically, an interview that gets to know who these players really are as a person as well as player.

    - "Prep zone" for college? We already have that in "Next Level". So far, it has been given a mediocre response

    - The problem of selecting a young player and to follow her development will create the backlash you just described (how come my DD wasn't selected). If we are to single out a player to follow, it must be a player that has already accomplished more than the average player.

Aren't there rising junior's and senior's that are leaders in their classes? (they are separated from their peers by their god given talent)

Aren't there rising sophomores that were starters on their varsity team? (they standout from the rest).

    - If there are players that one knows that are going unnoticed, shame on you for not posting about them. There is no excuse for that.

    how bout this?

Take 2 kids and make them sign something saying they wont divulge the interview source. Keep them nameless and the school they are going nameless.

Take one Blue chipper, going to major D1 and have her to email in step by step, maybe either create a running blog where they can log in and share their experiences (on the softball thread so we don't have to look for it, just log in and read)

and take one who is going smaller DI or DII and do the same for her

Take them from say the beginning of their senior year, dealing with recruiting, dealing with playing and grades and sat, just have them update once a week for all the rest of us to catch up.

will be a running "interview". Will show difference, similarities, struggles, etc.

    excellent

this is an excellent point Braves. One girl that I am asking to interview has the greatest work ethics in the world as far as I'm concerned, and her name is well known. this kid has busted her butt for 10 years to get to where she is today and i think it would be great for her to share her experiences and some of the lessons she has learned along the way. Not everyone gets their name in print, but forums like this spread the names of the girls who's names arent in lights, and this brings the attention of some college coaches who read this forum on a constant basis. Case in point is a receint pick up at a local D2 school who signed a local girl based on what was said on this forum, a girl who was overlooked by everyone and to my understanding had given up on playing college ball. These solid players are the ones we need to push into the lime light and get their names out there. this should be eveyones goal for the coming year. jmho
