A HS player attends a private school in the 8th grade and plays a Varsity sport in that year where the HS and middle schools were under the same roof.. Then transfered to a public school for their HS 9th grade year(never attending private HS at all).

When their Senior year comes around are they concidered by the NCHSAA as having played 5 years in a Varsity sport?

    8-semester rule

This is a very good question. I believe the NCHSAA will go with the 8 semester rule on this. If the student enters the public school as a 9th grader, he/she has 8 semesters of eligibility. They basically have four years to compete from the time they first enter high school. I do not believe their participation at the private school level (in this case) would have any bearing on their eligibility.

    Thanks!!

This is how I thaught it would be. Their have been some whining and grabbing for straws I guess to try and weaken our HS team by going after one player on this matter. It takes a team not one player to be competative.
I hate that folks try and go after a kid like that just in hopes they will win a ball game.

Thanks Mr. POP for your time and knowledge on this matter. Who would I get in touch with in the NCHSAA level to find out for sure? Love to get something in writting to have for these guys to shut them up.
thanks cheez for you input also.
