Just have not seen him. I don't do this for a living. I only mentioned who I have seen. I don't think anyone here intended to slight the young man.

    Sean Pope

I saw this kid pitch today at UNCC. He was consistantly pitching 88-89 with a nasty breaking ball and change-up. He had everyone looking and talking. Yesterday he was one of the two fastest runners at the camp (50+ kids). He ran a sub seven 60, not once but twice! WOW!!

    OR

OR - get your legion team of choice to play South Charlotte or Impact or Hurricanes or any one of the other numerous established Show Case Teams and see what they (the Legion teams) are made of....... I believe Impact tried on more than one occasion to play several legion teams but funny how it just never could work out.....

    Oh Boy!!

Home Plate you have done it again!!

Back to the topic. Before anyone comes on here and jumps me for leaving anyone off "These are the guys I have seen". Im sure there are other outstanding players in the 09 class. Post information on them if you would like.

#1 Brian Goodwin CF TR BL - Will be a top round draft pick. He is a five tool player. I know several pro scouts that believe he is the top player in NC 09 class and one of the top prospects (posistion players) in the nation.

#2 Levi Micheal SS 3B 2B OF TR SH - Can do it all and does. Power and average from both sides of the plate. Great arm great arm actions tremendous fielder knows the game. Makes routine plays routinely and makes tough plays look routine. The kid is a stud.

#3 Ben Fish C TR BR - As solid as they come behind the plate. Great arm great technique. Advanced abilities behind the dish for a kid his age. Very good hitter with some juice and will only gain more power. Very good field general and pitchers love to throw to him. Great young body. He will be a beast by his senior year.

#4 Bryan Bass 2B TR HL - Tremendous player. Outstanding ability in the middle with a very good arm for his age. Has outstanding range and the ability to make plays other players can not make. Hits from the leftside and barrells balls all day long. As he gets older and stronger I believe he will add alot of power to his game. Right now he is a gap to gap hitter with a great approach at the plate. Really understands the game and gets after it bigtime.

#5 Will Lamm CF TL HL - Stud!! Already verballed to Clemson. Speed great size and tremendous reads off the bat. The kid can rake. The guy has so much upside its ridiculous.

#6 Ethan Carter RHP - At 6'4 and pitching in the upper 80's low 90's already what can you say? Already verballed to USC. He has a nasty Tyler Hibbs like slider and commands his off speed like a kid much older. Outstanding stuff and a great competitor on the hill. A very likely high draft choice.

#7 Sean Pope RHP - I only have seen this kid one time at the Impact Games. Very impressive. Upper 80's stuff with very good command of his off speed stuff. Good athlete especially for a kid with his size. I look forward to seeing alot more of him. He is a very good looking prospect to say the least.

#8 Richie Shaffer RHP (looks like he can play about anywhere) I only have seen him one time but I have heard alot about him. I saw him at the Cary Olympic Complex when the DB's played the JR Olympic Team. I loved his approach at the plate. He started off on the hill and was mid 80's on the stalker and showed a nice cb. I want to see him alot more because from what I saw he looks like a terrific player.

#9 Tyler Joyner LHP - I saw him pitch three times last HS season. This kid is legit. He has already verballed to ECU. I saw him in the 87 range on his fb and I have heard he has been around 88-89. The kid has a nasty slider that just eats up LH hitters. I love the way he competes on the hill. The guy is a warrior on the hill. He shows a presence on the hill that makes it hard to believe he is only 16 years old. He pitches like a mature 22 year old. Great command of his off speed stuff and a lights out "out" pitch make him in my opinion one of the best.

#10 Josh Darroach RHP - I will throw in one of my own here. This kid will pitch in the 84-86 range when he is going good. He has a nice 12-6 deuce and a good cu. Josh will compete and has been very effective on the hill during his HS career. I look for some nice things this season from "Scroach".

Sheer geography makes it tough for most Legion teams to compete with top showcase teams. Most showcase teams pull from a wider area. Both types of ball have their strengths and weaknessess. What's good for one kid may not be good for the other.
