Bigdan, I believe I heard that Crest is starting a sophmore quarterback this year and is expected to be weaker than the past few years.

our team is known as freedom not freedom/patton.As a matter of fact only 1 player came back to freedom from patton after they announced they wasnt gonna have a varsity football team and only 2 players on the football filled out transfers to stay at freedom before all this jv varsity stuff began.Overall there was 14 kids who lived in freedom district who got approved to go to patton and the same amount was approved for students who lived in patton district to go to freedom.

Butler player was ejected for taunting after scoring a TD, but there was no one in front of him TO TAUNT. Horrible call by officials, and Butler is appealing as the player is due to be suspended for their next game as well. He raised his hand to the sky and pointed (as if to point to God) with 3 defenders behind him. Officials likely felt he was making a "number 1" signal. Refs need to lighten up.

Don't blame the officials for that one. They were told to crack down on anything like that. Puts them in a tough position every night. Believe it or not, they are scrutinized if they don't by the state. I am sure a tape will be sent in and a final determination will be made.

If that is what the player was really doing, he shouldn't have anything to worry about. In my opinion, they kids watch Saturday and Sunday games and think they can do the same thing. just my 2 cents.

Thanks Tony, Freedom is playing well, couple of mistakes but we will be fine as the year continues. I thin Patton's JV team won the other night..:)

i have a question- i know freedom always has a good team and i was just wondering that if u know u have a shot at being a great team like they do each year why would u schedule as hard a schedule as they do. they have played within seven points of crest and shelby and have nothin to show for it. they also have asheville and roberson scheduled as well as the traditonal conference games with ac reynolds, watauga and the rival game with east burke. i know u gain experience and confidence of knowing you can play with good teams but a loss is a loss. i just lookat it as if i know i can beat a team id rather have that then take a chance. it just seems to me for playoff reasons that playing a few good teams and then a couple not so good teams would allow more wins and better seeding in the playoffs. i could be wrong so i just wanted to get some opinions other than my own.

I think the tougher the sch. the better off you are...

    Crest plays or played
    Scrim.
    TC Roberson
    Gaffney
    Hickory

    Season
    Burns
    Shelby
    KM
    Freedom
    Country Day
    Plus Big South Play

    Shelby plays the likes of
    Brevard
    Ashbrook
    Freedom
    Lincolnton
    Crest
    Watauga
    plus SW Play

I think that a team that wants to get to that upper level needs the best comp. they can get and I think that Freedom playing that kind of sch. year in and out will pay off in the long run. I've seen some 10-0 teams get steamrolled in the playoffs once they faced that battle tested team that may one or two defeats.
