    excellent turnout

Team #19 was 4-0, only allowed 8 runs. They finished in 1st place, but that stuff really didn't matter.

    Coached by Buster Hill.

Most local talent was Leah Quant. What a great player and a super kid.

Others from Cincy, 2 from Conway, SC, West Virginia, 2 from Durham, 2 from northern virginia, and 2 more can't remember, sorry.

Great tourney run by a class guy in Kirt W. King of the info emails, for sure. :59:

    Nice username...

...Wavefisher. I'd like to see a list of the coaches in attendance. Maybe I'm wrong about the #, but it sure seamed to me to be alot less. The weather and talent was nice. My issue with the format is that 3 outs or 6 batters doesn't allow for an equal opportunity for batters of a team whose pitcher can't get out of an inning until 6 batters come to the plate. Great for the team who is batting, but if the opposing team comes to the plate and goes three and out, then the rest of the girls in the batting order lack the chance to hit. I know its petty stuff, but what about the same format but each team bats 6 per inning. That gets more kids to the plate, and allows for the pitchers to get into a groove. Less time spent running on/off the field etc. In a few games that I know of, some kids came to bat 3 times when others saw the plate once. Just a thought. Welcome to TBR Marlin

    Marlinfan1,

For a list of coaches, I would recommend contacting Kirt. I asked him and it sounded like the number I posted.

As far as format, my personal opinion is it allows no pitcher or batter to dominate. The focus of the format is to create actions so that each player has to perform. As far as how many at bats, or how many pitches, each player in her position is expected to perform. The colleges want to see action and how each athelete responds. 4 or so games gives them a indication.

I am not part of the group that sponsors this event, just a parent of kid involved.

    I know...

...that asking Kirt that ? is like asking a pitchers dad how fast she throws. If Kirt says X number coaches were there then he'll have a list. If that list is not a substantial # then you can bet your bottom dollar thar his reponse will be that the kids did not e-mail the coaches as he said. Not e-mailing college coaches is one nail in the coffin so-to-speak no matter where a kid is playing. As for the format, I like it for the most part, but I think you're missing my point on how to get an equal # of at bats and fielding play by all teams. This is my 2nd experience with QDSS. A slight change here and there will improve this nice event. JMO. As for the coaches seeing action, they can't if the group of players from team X goes three and out. Or if pitcher A, claiming to throw 60+ is giving up meatballs to the opponent. Find a way to provide an equal format per TEAM ( as best possible ).
