FOOTNOTE : One of the friendlist kids I've met over the past years that just graduated from Forest Hills High School ( Mike Stewart's Daughter), she would make a statue welcome, she goes out of her way to hug,and welcome new kids that cross her path...if she has a mean bone in her body she hides it well..We need more kids like her spreading hugs to all the misfit kids that want to be part of a TEAM.[/quote]

I couldn't agree more about Alicia Stewart. She is the epitome of what a great team mate is. Also as fierce as a competitor as there is. I think Mike and Kathy have everything to do with that. they should be very proud.

As far as team bonding is concerned, the meathods already mentioned ie. sleep overs, going to the movies etc. are good, but one that I especially like is that the head coach at the begining of the year after the Varsity team has been picked,(do the same for jv at a different time) have a meeting where the head coach goes to each player in front of the whole team and give his expectations, strong points and how the team will need what this particular player brings to the table. Nothing negative at all! This shows that as a team every player brings strength. The hope is that the team needs each player together. Girls have to feel good to play good.

Mischief brings unity....always has, always will.

The girls ought to get together and egg the head coach's house.....that'll bring the ball team together, especially if they get caught!

Ms. Stewart is exactly what has been said, team player, supportive, works hard, wants to win but also wants all her teammates to feel good and work hard as well. Go A Stewart a new Crusader!

    Here you go...

We are going to do this soon, as soon as I can find a place.

Tell the girls to be ready for practice, an extended practice perhaps, and then meet whereever, someone's house, church, school. They will look at you funny because you are meeting somewhere different....but....

Bring in pizza and watch the movie "Facing the Giants". if you haven't seen, you will cry through parts of the whole thing but in the end you will realize (if you don't already) that life isn't really about you, it is about being a TRUE Christian, standing up and realizing you can be a witness for Him and you can push yourself to great extremes to reach goals.

If more kids realized what an impact they can have on their peers faith, then there is no telling how much better this place would be.

Softball isn't just about ball, it is life. We must be examples to the kids (all of them, not just your own) if we expect for them to be great later in life....

    An idea I read about......

I read about a team bonding idea that I thought sounded like a really good idea!
The coach sets up a scavenger hunt, taking members of the team that are the most different from each other and making them team mates for the scavenger hunt! Making it clear that both members of the team had to each sovle half of the clues to find the objects! So both team members had to rely on themselves as well as their teammate. Both members have to be equally responsible for the outcome!
The team that wins gets to be the captains for the first month of the season! Then during that first month the team all has questionaires to fill out on the other members of the team.
The questionaire has 1 category per member of the team such as: team leader qualities, equipment management skills, field upkeep skills, time off field, event organizer, birthday celebration organizer, phone calls, etc...
Then the coaches and the captains for the first month, get together and go over the answers of all the questionaires. The people who get the most points for each category are then put in charge of that area of team management. This way every member of the team has an important role to fill and everyone feels important to the running of the team!
I felt like for HS age girls this was an excellent idea!:clapclap:
