sports in mcdowell have been on the plummet slowly since the mid 90's. yea there have been some good teams here and there but traditionally from a boys stand point we were dominant from football season to baseball season.we titan fans are just to proud to admit it, and thats a good thing sometimes but sometimes you have to look at the bare facts and man up and see that we arent bigger or faster or stronger and we dont even have the number of kids participating as reynolds, or roberson, or even say a mitchell or rs central. everyones ripping the offense but buggys on pace to have more yards than last year. then they rip the defense. maybe rightfully so but have you guys even looked at the people on defense? they are all 170lbs soak and wet. aaron bingham starts at mlb and he goes as hard as he can but hes 160 lbs getting beat on by lead blocks and fullbacks that out weigh him by 30-70 lbs. you cant play in a 4a conference like that. its not the uniforms, or the coaches its the people that you put on the field. the kids are playing hard but theres not alot of athletes and theres not alot of big kids to make up for it. theres alot of reasons that the titans are struggling but this has been in the making for a long time.

You people are just flat out stupid if you believe its the coaching staff or the offenses falt. U must not know alot about football if you believe that. The offense is the best its been in years. When you score 4 to 5 tds a game and still cant win its on the defense. McDowell just dont have the big guys or the athletic guys around anymore. Sure theres buggy and he does all he can. The offense produces but you cant make guys on the defensive side of the ball mean. A coach cant turn a sissy into a mean football player. Its not the coaches fault and sure aint the offenses fault. The teams gets well prepared but they are just not mean enuff. Coach Helms is an offensive genius and hes play calling is great and for the individual coaches they are great as well. You just cant do much when you dont have the players.

Rumblebee, you make some very valid points...toughness is something that we just don't have and its something you definitely cannot coach. We'll never have to worry about getting personal foul penalties for being overly aggressive on defense.

Bigdan I agree with you 99%.However I also believe a coach can make up for some of this through motivation. I'm not sure coach Haynie can provide that.

    BigDan,

Come on man. The only passes we throw are for short 8-12 yard gains. We never go for the big one. Petey can throw the big one. Amerto cant. And the ONLY REASON WE SCORE ON OFFENSE IS BUGGY! You know that. Berry had a great interception and return but other than that tustle is the only reason we score. I wasn't saying that we need to pass more. Im saying we need to give it to Buggy less because when we play freedom and ac were not gonna have him. Helms thinks there is only one player on that team and I know coach haynie disagrees. His play calls are terrible. Period.

Okay, so we're supposed to throw nothing but long bombs on each passing play? If case you wasn't at the Enka and Mitchell games, every time Petey threw "the big one" it was either terribly inaccurate or picked off. Hindsight being 20/20, Petey maybe would have been better off by throwing the shorter passes and getting into a rhythm and then take chances on the long passes. For anybody that has a shread of knowlege about the spread offense it's crucial to have a good offensive flow to be successful.

I knew that when it became public knowledge that we were running the spread that people were expecting us to throw it all over the place, even though we still had the best running back in the state...I mean did ya'll honestly think we were going to abandon Buggy? Any good running back is going to touch it between 20-25 times per game...you know it wasn't all that long ago that we had a another good back (Davon Gardner) who was carrying it 35 times a game. So to complain about Buggy being the only factor on offense is just beyond belief. And plus its not like we're pulling a "Marcus Allen" to where we throw and run down field just to let Buggy take all the glory and score on one yard touchdown runs, Terrance is on pace to shatter the state record for average yardage per touchdown run. Rumblebee was right, some of you folks are just plain out stupid...

a good spread offence means you run more than you pass the ball.look at watauga cant pass it,asu runs he ball more than they pass it and ,
wvu runs the ball you need a good qb that plays like a rb and can pass the ball alittle

No, not the smiley. Look at the red things above the smiley. That's what McDowell needs.

    Please, give me a break.

Dookman, I rarely agree with a dookie, but you had a great post.
