I understand your plight. But that is the challenge for us (NC Teams )to
firgure out. There are several hundred teams playing Gold. Some how they are getting it done w/ fund raisers or something.?? We are going to start losing quality players to out of state teams if we do not adjust our thinking. I have been told that there are 2 great players leaving the state to play Gold with a team out of MO....It is the way of the future, we have to adjust or be left behind..

    Players

There are and they play for Blues or did play for Blues and we have a Gold team. That said the Gold concept is a good one but just is not going to be for all parties, just like ASA A is not. Most anything can be done if U have the support, the parties willing to work and a total "buyin" to what U are doing. It worked for Blues this summer and the kids had a great time.

    Money

i am pretty sure if memory serves me correctly that the Blues whether it be gold or A or any part of the organization, they make huge effort to fundraise money for their season. Softball should never be about money. Is about heart, sweat and taking the time to make yourself better, not money. The Blues are one of the classiest organization I had the opportunity to deal with while coaching. If your DD has a chance to play with the Blues, the organization will see to it she has the opportunity the raise the needed funds. Their gold team had a chance to play for two of the brightest softball minds in the game of softball. Trust me on this one if your DD wants to play in college she can and she doesn't have to play gold. I can only imagine the experiences these girls will take with them for the rest of their lives.

    Gold vs. No-Gold

This thread sure ended with a "thud." Guess trying to play "Gold" is much more difficult at the organizational level than we'll ever know. Since all the threads got closed and nobody's allowed to ask what actually happened around the much heralded "Gold Team" from NC, this discussion ends here.
After approx. 3 weeks, 90 comments and 3700 views, this thread just disappears??

The irony is that the folks from that team that were so LOUDLY touting their accomplishments throughout the entire summer, have asked for and received permission from TBR to fade into darkness without so much as a whisper.

For those of us who have future softballers and baseballers, it would have been nice to have heard the other side of the story so that we, as parents, could be wiser in making choices for our own children. I thought that was what TBR was all about, to a certain extent, to provide experiences for learning to others.

From the casual observer's perspective, all was wonderful in the "Gold" world and then suddenly, without warning, it was over. "Gold" ball must be really scary/dangerous stuff to come and go so quickly! Do you still feel playing "Gold" ball is a good option? Did it create other unforeseen issues that you didn't think about?

    Confused

Not sure what else you want?

You have at least three parents opinions on Gold that were positive.

You also have a lot of negatives from people, and that is OK too.

It is what it is, good for some, and not so good for some.

    Truth

Gold is good if that is what you want to play. But you can get plenty of good exposure, without doing the gold, & for a lot less $$, plus being able to watch you kids play. Simple as that.
