I'd like to hear more about these Marshall brothers and the NW Cabarrus team from 1971. I have a brother that played for S. Johnston HS in '71 that lost to NWC in the eastern finals, a game played at Laurinburg. Thanks.

    Three Tilton brothers

David Tilton set the Green Hope HS season stolen base record in 2003, brother Ryan broke that in 2005, and youngest brother Cory was Green Hope HS MVP in 2005. Cory still plays at UNCC....

Baseball was huge for them all, and taught them important life lessons. David graduated from NC State and is successful in the real business world. Ryan is going into pharmacy school at Chapel Hill. Cory earns great grades at UNCC and hopes to help the 49ers this year...

Bottom line, baseball was important to all these young men in terms of character development; it started when they were very young and it had a lot to do with their successes along the way. My sons learned about hard work, accomplishment, personal accountability, commitment, dedication, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.

Baseball is great, Brothers are forever….

Ray, Chad and Ronald Durham at Harding High school. General consensus was Ronald may have been the best athlete but he didn't really care to play past high school, it was all just another way to have some fun to him.

Of course, Ray is now with the SF Giants. Chad was drafted and played a few years in the minors, not sure where he is now.

Otis and Donnell Nixon were absolute terrors in HS. One of them, I can't remember which, stole ten bases on us in a regulation game back around 1979. Stole second and third three times then stole home to win it.
