    Is this really the place?

Is this really the place to make public allegations of illegal recruiting? What if your wrong and you have accused these coaches of illegal recruiting? Do you have proof? Did you hear them recruit the player(s)? Could it be the players wanted to transfer on their own? Could it be they actually are going to reside in that schools district? Those are some serious allegations to make in a public forum. My last post on this thread I can assure you of that.

IF you go to the NCHSAA, you'd better have proof!! None of this "he said, she said" stuff!! This came up at the NCCA clinic and the coach that asked was told you'd better have proof!! I take that to mean you'd better have a tape, etc... something that is rock solid.

This is definitely not the place to make allegations... if you wish to do it, do it elsewhere!!!

I dont think anybody should come on here accusing people or programs of such allegations. If anybody does do that than I believe they should be kicked off. The purpose of this forum is not to accuse people or programs but to uplift those two aspects.

Accused who and what serious public allegations? No, this isnt the place for name calling or accusing any specific coach or specific team bashing, But I dont see where that was done. I actually think people hold back sometimes for the sake of the forum. What I see is that some opinions and concerns were shared. Again there are places to go if anyone does feel the need to make specific allegations. Odviously this is a sensitive topic to some for a variety of reasons.

I agree. I went back and reread thinking I had missed something, but I couldn't find any of the things mentioned above either.

    I already broke my word

by posting again on this but what the heck. Did you read all the posts here? Did you not read the post specifically calling out a particular program and its coaches? Quote "Commits obvious recruiting violations". Did you read the post talking about a coach that coaches players from his own team on the same showcase team? Baserunning read the previous posts and then come back on here and tell me it did not happen. Please what a crock of ****! I can now understand why some coaches stay clear of these message boards. Im starting to wonder if its not time for me to do the same.

I am in 100% agreement with Coach here!!! I am just sorry what started out as a good thread has turned into a crock of ****!! What gives anybody the right to publically speak about RUMORS that cannot be substantiated??!! This is libel if printed and slander if said... you'd better be careful of what you say!

I agree with Coach 27 and with that being said we should lock this thread and move on.

We can beat this recruiting thing to death. However there are two sides to everything. Seldom does anyone ever know why a player/family has reached the decision to transfer. They may have had good reason to transfer.

We lost a kid the other day. Life long friend to my son and others, and while we all hate that he is gone, we can't blame him. He was in a bad situation and the kid just wants to play HS baseball. What's wrong with that? He doesn't focus on a scholarship. He just wants to enjoy his HS years.

We also just had a kid transfer in who is a really good kid. You can't meet a nicer kid. He was just in a bad situation. His family reached a conclusion that what was best for their child was to make a change. Who can blame a parent for doing what they think is the best thing for their child? Should a kid be penalized because he lives on the wrong side of a line drawn by the County School Board? Nobody recruited him. Our coach didn't even know him 1st hand. The kid just needed a different environment to help him best achieve his dreams. And we're glad to have him. My son wants to be part of a state championship. This kid can help. It's a team game and he can help the team while helping himself.

I'm big on loyalty to the team, school and program. However do you throw away your dreams for loyalty? It's a fine line. But back to Braves point, why worry about something we can't control? If a kid transfers in, welcome them, treat them as you want to be treated, develop a friendship and play ball. Don't hold it against the kid, especially when we seldom know all the facts.

It's not always about some coach recruiting. There really are some bad situations out there.

Now, back to the original question about why kids appear to be more selfish. Look at this website. While I enjoy the site and it's purpose, this site focuses on promoting kids and individuals. It's not a site that focuses on team. It's all about promoting individuals and talking about who got the latest scholarship. JMO, but even this site is a lot about "I" and not so much about "team". Not complaining, just the way I see it. Everyday it's about who got a scholarship. What message does that send?
