Not a terrible game for the pioneers, a fumble on the four yard line, an interception late, and a kickoff return were the difference in this one. Fair performance on the D side of the ball, held Raper to 15 rush yards, too many BIG plays though. Eric ran about a dozen times for 95 yards. Beason completed 9 of 16 for 138 yards, watauga just failed to get the ball in the endzone.

    Quick Question

Anybody else hear about a new rule saying students can no longer paint their bodies? Was told tonight that it has something to do with it being what colleges do.
Not sure if this is just a McDowell thing or something wider?
    Just interested...:huh2:

    Ragsdale 16
    E Randolph 7

dang - after losing to these guys six times in a row I would never think I would walk out of Ramseur saying we should have won by more. Ladarious Canty took the first play from scrimmage for a 63 yard TD, ER goes three and out, Ragsdale marches right down the field mixing runs and passes to go up 13-0 barely five minutes into the game.

ER looked slow and over matched. Ragsdale stops them again, moves right back down the field, then gets cute, then conservative, has to punt away then they promptly went cold on offense the rest of the night.

ER got down inside the five right before the half, Ragsdale made a great stand keeping them out of the end zone. Ragsdale should have had a shut out but they let ER convert a 4th and 20 on a wounded duck hail mary to the two and ER scored with about 7 minutes to go.

ER looked to be getting the ball back as Ragsdale was set to punt on 4th and 2 from their 28 but Norwood made a great call on a fake punt, Carvel Alston ran it deep into ER territory and Casey Redfern added a 29 yard FG to ice the game.

ER stayed in the game and Ragsdale kept letting Milliner the QB get away and left receivers open all over the field. #83 the ER tightend is a player. He made some big catches and was open most of the night.

Glad to finally get a win in Ramseur. Ragsdale now 5-2, 2-0 0n the season.

    Richmond Sr. - 13
    Westover - 7

Richmond's offense was Westover's defense. Ugly.

NCHSAA Rule, not sure the reason(s) why. Seems rather dumb to me..but again there may be a good reason. It is a state rule though, not just McDowell.

Thanks, it seems a little dumb to me too. Gosh let's not let the kids show school spirit and have fun.
Sorry for the sarcasim. Would be interesting to know the reason(s) behind this.
We'll have to wait for the "rest of the story"

When you read the Monday paper here in Marion you will see that stats-wise Freedom held a sizeable advantage at just about every category but it was the heart and desire of the kids out on the field that made this a very exciting game and one McDowell almost pulled off. Also, I have to give huge props to the home crowd tonight, it was pretty elecrtic at times and there were numerous times in the 2nd half where our crowd was up on their feet being as loud as possible. I haven't seen that at a McDowell football game in a long, long time...I think it shows that after all the struggles and obstacles that folks want to put in the way of the Titans and the coaches, we still have a lot of loyal fans. I just wish we can continue that next week at Watauga.
