    LOVE SOFTBALL PERIOD


    well, some people still like to play, not just be in the stands... WATCHING... and there's not many ADULT fastpitch leagues... don't knock it, still the love of the sport is all the same.

    I agree Shake it off.
    But here is the life cycle of softball as I see it

    When you can no longer play fastpitch you go to slowpitch
    when that becomes too difficult to play you move on to coaching.
    When your eyes and mind no longer function well enough to coach you become.......................................... an umpire,

    ruffled feathers

    Well I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers, just stating my personal opinion. I just can't find the enjoyment of Slowpitch even though I know there are thousands who do. When the Mens Fastpitch softball around my area died off I gave Slowpitch a chance....for two games, then I decided to travel to Kentucky to join a fastpitch team there. But back to the main topic...As for helping or hurting todays youth players, the defense of slowpitch will keep them working which is a plus, but the hitting doesn't do anything but kill their timing and develop bad habits. The mechanics of the swing are different for both sports. Sorry if I stepped on any toes.
