We have talked about coaches now let's hear about parents and ones that have contributed to a team or provided a quality child that played for you or with your child. No names of course, just positive characteristics.

    Some comments by parents:

I brought my child to this team it is her job to earn playing and pitching time.

If my daughter wants more playing time I expect her to ask U what she needs to do to get that time

What can we do to help?

Can we head up the fund raising efforts

We will work every fund raisers put us down right now.

This is a team and I am supporting all the young ladies, it is not about my daughter only!

these are examples of good comments and actions, I am sure there are many more.

    Loyalty works both ways, etc.

Coach U did a great job today, thank U

A good parent? One that supports and enthusiastically cheers for all the players on their team...

    A good softball parent...

A good softball parent - is the same as a good parent in a sense!
One would like to think that people should already know these things, but that is not the case!
    A Good Softball Parent: (IMO)
Should teach your child important rules like, wait your turn, respect your elders, it is not all about you, before you bring them to the field!
Should tell their child that the coach is the coach, not the parent, and that the coach will point out their mistakes!
Should be a good role model, for not just your child, but the others on the team.
Should be involved in every aspect of the child's life, not just the good parts, for practice and the games.
Should be of assistance to the coaches. Even if it is only to offer to get them a water, when you go to the concession to get you or the DD one!
Should always remember to say, thank you, for coaching my DD!
Should remember to say, great job coach and girls, even if the team didn't win!
Should always be there to support their child, no matter what! The child is the most important part of this whole relationship!
I'm sure I have left some out!

I always say "The most important job God gave me, was to be my DD's parent, I take that job very seriously!

    75% right.....

.....but for a total 100%, the good parents cheer and SUPPORT their opposition. Hidden agendas, like saying under your breath, strike out, strike out, or anyother negative towards a kid on your DDs team or who she is facing, all in the interest of, if this kid or that kid fails, then mine will look better. That goes on alot and unfortunately only changes when we as parents are faced with the terror of bringing a game and its attributes back to reality by facing things like, my hero, Kendayl and her family are LIVING with. And while I'm on my soapbox, I'd like to throw out to TBR, that, yes, the ultimate horror of losing a child can and does and did happen. GOD bless Skylar Wingate and her family. At 15, she died in a tragic auto accident. Its a shame that all of us have to realize whats important by experiencing the examples above. Hug ALL of the kids while we can. That is the understanding of a "have been put in my place parent!"

I've had many great parents play in our organizations over the years. parents that supported every kid on the team, supported the coaches decisions right or wrong. parents that, when they wanted to share their view, did it in private and constructively. parents who would go to the other team after a game and congradulate particular players who made great plays or had outstanding games. parents who saw that a particular player on our team needed something (glove, shoes, food) and gave it to them on the QT not wanting the girl to feel bad or feel like they owed them something. I remember them all and run into them frequently now that our girls are all in college or starting their families. these were great memories as we pulled together to form a small family with one goal....

    HMMMMMMMMMMM !!!

I haven't achieved that goal as mentioned above...too competitive....I can honestly say that I don't know many that have arrived...I do know one thing when everything is going my way I seem to be more happy....remind you of anybody ??? I think we need to really examine ourselves and see what kind of parent we really are to our children. Do we teach our children do whatever it takes to get what they want??...Hint,Hint !!! Think about it !!!

:furious3:----- Parent that didn't get what they want !!!!
