of players that you have the ultimate respect for. But here is what I want you to think about. Forget about the most talented or anything else along those lines. A player you have seen that makes you want to shake his hand because of the way he plays the game or the way he handles himself in tough situations. Or it could be the player that works hard every practice and is the leader in the dugout...but rarely plays.

Please list their names and explain why you feel the way you do

    seager

kyle seager is one of those kids for me. we played kannapolis in the al state tournament two years ago. he was very impressive and not just the tools stuff. obviously the kids a player. but i was impressed with his approach, defensively, offensively, and on the bases. the way he talked to his teammates, the way he spoke to umpires, and even the way he spoke to us. he handled himself like a professional. which with all of his success and accolades you could see that it would be easy to not be that kind of guy. i walked away just very impressed with kyle and was not suprised at all at his success at carolina last year.

Great post...that is what I meant.

There is a pitcher at Watauga that does it for me. His personal struggles have been well documented and based on what he has been through it would have been very easy for him to give up baseball. But Wil Dicus has never wavered about his devotion to the game and where his place is with it.

The best part of his story is that I no longer look at Wil Dicus as a cancer survivor nor as a battle that he continues to fight. I look at him simply as a HS baseball player getting ready for the season with the intentions to help his team win their conference championship. And having said that, I know that he will.

He is a kid that has earned respect from every teammate and opponent he faces. I can't wait to shake his hand

    Tyler Tewell

Tyler Tewell of Butler High school. Plays for the South Charlotte Panthers. Tyler played at MARA for years and played hard, showed outstanding sportsmanship and humility. He encourages his team and is definitely a leader. He has a strong bat and is one of the best catchers in the game. He comes from a great supportive family. You cant go wrong with Tyler.

    Matt Ellington

Former Northern Vance / North Carolina Tarheel. I coached against this guy for four years. The last game we played against him as we shook hands at home plate I said " It has been a pleasure to watch you play the past four years. Im very glad I will not have to coach against you ever again. " Matt Ellington was very talented. But the thing I loved the most about him was the way he made everyone around him even better. He was a fierce competitor. I mean this kid got after it like every game was the last game he was ever going to play. He pushed his team mates. He got in their face if he had to and he was always there encourageing them during the games. I absolutely loved the way this guy played the game. I hated to coach against him because you knew if there was anyway he could find a way to beat you he would do it. But man did I love to watch him play the game. He was nothing but class in the way he carried himself. And he always respected the game. He was the kind of kid you hated to see in the other dugout but sure wished he was in yours.

Matt was the POY in the Northern Carolinas Conference all four years in HS. He still holds several offensive state records. But I remember him more for the way he played the game and how he made those around him better. That says alot about a young man in my opinion.

Great pick. I love watching Tyler play...and you're right, he has outstanding supporting parents. His Dad is a little bit questionable :59:, but his Mom is a jewel (I owe her big time for watching out for my son in PR)

I met Matt one time when he was at UNC. I didn't know his background at that time, but I'm not surprised to find out from Coach May what a classy young man that he is. These are the guys that you cheer for.

I agree because I know Aaron, but for those that don't, what makes him so special?

    Work, Work, Work

Aaron is a worker. He's got a great swing, throws properly, and is solid defensively but it's his steady, no fuss approach that I noticed several years ago.

For those that don't know. Aaron Bray is the starting 3B for UNCC. He's a Jr. this year. Was A10 Freshman of the Year (I think). A left handed hitter that hits any pitching. A quiet leader on that club.
