If you're referring to me, I didn't say they were. What I was saying is places like GBC had an impact in developing a lot of the kids in Coach 27's post. I've seen it and lived it 1st hand for years. I think everyone understands that some showcase teams (Impact being one) are about displaying a kid instead of developing a kid. Although I can't help but think that kids learn something while playing for Impact or any other showcase teams. My son has in a very short period of time.

Who cares who gets the credit? (By the way, I don't believe that was what Alan Ash was trying to do). Every player learns different things with every coach they have played for. If one wants to start issuing credit for a player's development...there is a long list.

I salute GBC in their involvement with players. They have a statewide reputation for helping many players in improving their skills. If someone would like to "shine the light" on the private organizations like GBC, then let's start a thread recognizing them for their effort. There sure are a number of them across our state that have been instrumental. But when one starts issuing credit...there are many, many people involved in that player's development and to single out just one does an injustice to others

I wonder how many more threads can be turned into discussions on Showcase baseball. So far its about 95% the same folks will turn it into one every time.

It's a slow month....we don't have HS ball. We don't have Legion ball. I can't post fishing picks. Shoot...talking about showcase ball takes the pressure of people picking on me.

I'm trying to find a way to turn a fishing story into Showcase baseball. But it's still early; give me some time.

True Dawgswood. It's most of what we talk about here. But then this site is about promoting players and showcase appears to be one of teh preferrred ways to promote kids so I would expect it to be a hot topic here. Although that doesn't mean I don't get tired of it. Last week we actually had 2 days (Friday, Saturday) that there was not one single post on showcase. 1st time I can remember that.

I wasn't trying to claim that one group over another deserves the credit. They all play some role. However, IMO the role that gets overlooked the most in development is THE KID. The kid is the one that does the work.
