My DD got her Combat Virus bat in August and since then she has hit 8 out of the park.

I know it is not all the bat, it is her mechanics BUT this bat is HOT!!!

    Hot is what it is!

I test every bat I get and this bat is hotter than any I have ever tested. I use a JUGS radar gun and the ball is hit off of a tee using new softballs only. This is not a highly scientific test but JUGS does advertise their gun is excellent for ball off the bat speeds.

I have been a big Easton fan and my daughter has two 2008 and one 2007 Stealth Comp. I have tested 2003-2005-2007 Anderson RT and most of the other major bats.
I have no idea about the durability of the Combat.

Also something else curious about Anderson RT. The company has long stated that the 2003/4 RT (red with black barrel) was no different than the 2005 (red with blue barrel). There is a difference. This bat is the best performing ASA legal bat Anderson has produced. As for the 2008 RT those I have talked with says it is really no different than the 07 just new paint and a slightly different end cap. I have no beef with Anderson my son swings a Anderson Techzilla. I test baseball bats too. Hottest out of the wrapper is Louisville Slugger EXO. Hottest after breakin is the Techzilla. 2008 Stealth Comp is right there with the EXO after breakin.

One of our travel coaches (94 East Cobb Bullets - Atlanta) is a professional hitting coach. His daughter has the 08 Stealth,07 RT and 07 Combat Lady Virus. He is the one that got us started looking into Combat. He is not sponsored nor does he sell this product. His daughter has switched to the Combat.

Even though I believe the bat is hotter. I think the bat has to fit the player.
Some girls can't handle the barrel weight of a RT. My daughter is one of those. We have a 03 RT and she knows it is the hottest bat she has ever had until this Combat. We both know she can't swing it as well as the -10 bats she has been using.

To those that say the bat doesn't make much difference don't fool yourselves. Combine the hottest bat with the player that has the mechanics and that is the best of both worlds.

By the way my daughter pitches a I would rather you NOT go out and buy a Combat !!

    Yea

Agree mechanics and confidence which sometimes can be created by just a change in bat, coaches comment, or just simply success.
Bats of all kinds are producing homeruns in the right hands, look at all the colleges and the bats they use! Deals make bats hot sometimes.

Combat I am sure is good, never used it so can not say yea or nay but glad the kids are doing well using it.

2005 rt (red bat) was not a good bat, company changed manuf's on the inner and outer barrel - reject rate was killer. 2007 bat was a vast improvement, but not quite as good as the 2004 (black). 2008 is far superior to the 2005/2007 and very, very close, as much as legally possible to the 2004 bat. i have sold a butt load of 2008's and the reports are tremendous as far as controlled hitting. but still, its just a tool and this year, we are going to compare the combat virus, 2008 rt and rip-it side by side on four different hs teams to get a good comparision (was too late to do this in travel ball). this isnt a sponsored trial, we just want to know what girls think, as most of the replies on this thread are from adults, myself included (i think).

    Rip It

This bat is very popular in the area we play. We tried some demos and our girls weren't impressed. Some of the reason was the barrel length for the 31-32 bats. The older girls 16U/18U seem to use them more than the younger age groups. My opinion only is the RT,Easton and Combat are better.

I haven't tried the 2008 RT yet and may not as long as there are no durability issues with the Combat.

didnt get a chance to welcome you, so welcome to tbr softball forum, and we appreciate any information or opinion on any equipment. we tried the rip-it also, seems to take too long to break in and lacks something??? not a very popular bat in this area. combat, anderson and easton seem to be the popular choices here.

have heard that the combat virus is much more durable than previous models, have some on order, will find out.

    again, welcome to tbr

    Thanks for the welcome

We play out of Atlanta but live in SC so it is close enough to keep up with happenings in NC. I enjoy and learn from these opinions. We all choose what to believe credible or not. Just from your post I am going to keep my eye on that 08 RT. If it is like the 03/04 model people will be happy.
