I think I have discovered why so many point their finger at Impact. After receiving a relpy to a question asked to AP. He stated in his reply Quote: "Impact Baseball is something totally outside of the Dirtbags summer/fall teams." So I would think the ones that look at the Dirtbag Site look at it as Impact. I would think that AP would put up a page that is titled Signed High School players and just list the HS and where they have SIGNED no verbal. He could note player was a Dirtbags as a note even. Because the end product is about how many has been assisted though Impact and getting signed to the next level.

    agree with coach

I am going to have to agree with Coach27. Impact is a recruiting service whose purpose is to promote and get names of players out there. The Dirtbags are a showcase team organization. They are two seperate entities. I will agree that they are closely related by management but that was great foresight on their part. If a player has ever played for the Dirtbags (no matter how long or short) and that player signed a scholly then sure they are going to put it on their website that is just good business sense. When a player signs who does not participate for the Dirtbags they put it on Impact also. Impact does a great job promoting players, getting names out there, and informing college coaches of players. I don't know of any credit taken for how good players are on any showcase team. Is that not what most and I mean most showcase teams try to get are the best players. If they didn't why would they hold tryouts?

Good point 247. The answer to that is obviously yes. Although I don't think anyone is pointing a finger at Impact. And if was me, and I had a player play one game with Impact, I'd probably bring that up. Just good business through marketing of the program. I get the impression that Alan's point was more in the development area.

    Don't Go So Deep

Thank You Kirk....You are exactley right. People should not look so deep in what other people say and analize it. All I want is for all kids to develop, get better and have a chance to play at the next level. Whether it's coach pitch to kids pitch, middle school to high school, high school to college, or even college to pro ball. Anyone who knows me knows that that's what I'm about. If I didn't think Impact was a good source, then why would I start Prep Stars, the same type of source?

Ahh...Prep Stars. I know that my good friend, John Ackley, is spending time with family and watching Dustin as often as possible, but how the heck is he? I miss that ol' boy!

Let me change the wording of that. Instead of pointing fingers. I should say implied. A lot of talk is done more off this boards site. It is for the most part opinions. AP and his coaches look at players they pick them on their critia not someone else. So what some might think are good players. Maybe ok in thier eyes.

Impact is exactly what 247 said it is. A recruiting service. There are lots of teams playing showcase of varying abilities and talents but all with very similar goals. The bottom line is our kids are fortunate to have another venue (showcase) to go with Legion, Palimino, and other avenues that allows kids a chance to develop and show their skills.

    I'm tired................................

of hearing coaches from days past, old teams, and all others trying to take credit for all of the players success! How about just enjoying that you may have had something to do with it and feel good for the boys. No one team or coach makes a good player. Most have used all of their experiences to become better. If you want to give credit, give it to where it's due - to God and the player himself. One gave him the talent and one worked at it to make the talent better. If you were lucky enough to be apart of it, great! I don't take credit for any of my sons successes. I simply give them the opportunity to do it. Each person has to use what works for there own. Be it travel ball, Legion, Showcase, whatever. There is no one true way for your son to succeed. You and he should decide. My sons have played it all from community ball to showcase. Ssometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Live and learn. No one from the parent teaching their son to throw, to travel coaches, to showcase coaches have stardom, fame, or riches on their mind. They all have the love of a game! So sit back and watch a game. Enjoy watching the players you know and the ones you don't know.
