    09's

Some great ones already mentioned here, but I will throw out a couple of names that I think are pretty good now, but I think will be tremendous in a year or two.

Nick McBride: 6'3 with an athletic frame. Long and lean. I think when this young man gets it all figured out and his mechanics catch up with his body, he is going to be as dominating a pitcher as there is coming out of the '09 class nationwide. 90's is definitely in his future.

William Henderson: Doesn't seem to get noticed that much, had the opportunity to coach him a little bit this fall in a fall league and this kid can absolutely rake it at the plate, to go along with a plus arm from the OF, and speed. I think when this young man realizes how good he is and his confidence matches his ability, he is going to be dominating. Quiet type of player that at the end of a game goes unnoticed, but look in the scorebook and he went 2-4 with a couple of rbi's and stolen bases.

Ritchie Schaffer and Tyler Zupcic need to be on this list.

Schaffer is the kid that represented NC on the USA team this past summer. A big kid (6'3") who can play 3B, SS and 1B and will pitch a good bit this season too.

Zupcic is a fleet footed outfielder whose father Bob played 300+ games for the Boston Red Sox (Big Club).

    Nick McBride

I can not believe I left his name off that list. This kid is outstanding. Great body and tremendous upside. He was lights out in Jupiter pitching in the 88mph range with great controll. Bright future for Mr McBride. And what a great young man as well.

    Agreed

Coach, couldn't agree with you more. Nick is pretty darn good now and with that 6'4" frame will only get better as he matures. He's upper 80's all day on the bump with a very fluid delivery and not afraid to come up and in on righty's! :) At a Perfect Game showcase this summer, all he did was post the best velo fron the bump, post the best arm strength from the OF and run the fastest 60 time at 6.83. Also plays a great outfield and swings the bat pretty well. Good kid with a great attitude so I'm sure he has a fun future ahead.

    Another 09

I don't go on this site much, but when I saw this thread I wanted to add to it. We, Porter Ridge High School, played Charlotte Catholic last year in the first round of the state playoffs. Catholic had a left handed pitcher that we beat (our pitcher threw a no hitter) and were lucky to do so. I think the kids last name is Vilet, but I could be spelling it wrong. If I remember it was a strange spelling. But this kid as a sophomore, now junior, gave up two runs in the first inning and nothing else after he settled down, going on to have 12 K's and 1 walk. He only let 2 more baserunners on. Had we not gotten those first few runs, it may have been different. His fastball was probably around the mid-80's. Not that that is overpowering, but our guys said it moved like crazy. His curve ball and change were pretty nasty as well, and he trew them no matter what the count. I was just very impressed with his mound presence and had never heard of him. Anyone else no anything about him? I asked some Catholic fans about him and where he played in the summer, but they didn't seem to know.

I think that kid played with the Heat. I believe I saw him at East Cobb.

Thanks. I see him on the Heat roster. I knew his name was spelled different. How did he look in East Cobb? I am just wondering if our game was just a great night for him or is he consistent. His mechanics looked very sound.
