Edmund Gravely to Newberry

    Edmund Gravely, who plays at Rocky Mount Academy has verbally committed to Newberry. Congratulations to Big E, and his parents Keen & Ashlin.

    Edmund will have baseballs flying out of the Indians park. I am proud of you son. Congrats to the Gravely family.

    Edmund would like to thank all the people who helped him acheive his goal, especially Coach Sarmiento. Edmund has been a Stretchlon Star since he was 12 and was a member of the last Star U18 Showcase team.
    Coach Sarmiento gave him so many opportunities to become a better ball player. Coach always pushed his players, especially Edmund, to play a higher level of baseball and to never be intimidated by the competition.
    We hope that Coach Sarmiento will share this accomplishment with our family, knowing that his influence and generosity has been immeasurable.
    Even though he will be wearing a Newberry Indian uniform, there will always be a Stretchlon Star in his heart!

    298 miles, or 4 hrs. from Rocky Mount. Edmund would have to gauranty at least two going out of that new park for the trip to be marked on the calendar.
    Also, for the record his last name is pronounced, GRAV-lee with a short "a" sound. That boy's name has been pronounced incorrectly as, GRAVE-lee on just about every PA system, at every baseball field on which he has ever played.

    Why don't you guys plan on making the trip to Hickory. I believe L-R plays Newberry....sure would be closer
