Ashbrook is at worst the 3rd best team in the bracket. They're seeded pretty accurately. I wouldn't be suprised if they won the bracket actually.

And if you're going to seed based on total overall record, why play a conference schedule? Ashbrook beat Crest handily on the field, so why would you put Crest ahead of them?

    You are misunderstanding me...

When you run into split classification conferences, more times than not you may run into a case where a team that finishes third or fourth in conference play will be grouped into the tier of #1 teams from the non-split conferences just because they placed the highest of any team from that classification. In the example I've given above, I don't think its fair that a 6-4 Ashbrook team is grouped together with an 8-2 Watauga and 8-2 Mt Tabor team that won their respective conference titles.

My suggestion is that the highest teams in the split-class conferences should not be grouped with the non-split conference champions UNLESS the team were to actually win the split conference that they played in. MY suggestion really has not a lot of bearing on conference play because everybody's goal is still to win their conference, I just don't think its fair for a team that didn't win the conference to be able to buy for a top four or five seed.

Ashbrook getting the #3 seed resulted in AC Reynolds and Purnell Swett moving down a spot in the bracket. The same can be said for West Region in 4AA...West Meck finished with a 7-3 record in the QC 3A/4A which was the highest of all the 4A school in that league. So because of that it resulted in a team like Independence to drop as far down as 10.

All in all I just don't think split class conference placement should hold the same weight as a non-split conference placement does.

In a perfect world, there wouldn't be split classes and conferences. I don't know as much about how the seeding system works as I probably should, but I don't think they just randomly put Ashbrook ahead of the other two teams. There is a formula for it all, I believe.

I would have to make Mt Tabor as the team to beat in the 4A West bracket. Purnell Swett also is a very talented team. One of those two will represent the west IMO.

I agree the 4A West is not as strong in the years past. I believe the 2nd round matchup of Crest and Mount Tabor could be huge. I think the winner of this will play either Watagua, AC Reynolds or Swett in the Semi-finals. Crest or Tabor would have to play Ashbrook in the 3rd to get to the 4th. Should be an interesting next 4 weeks. Word is Mount Tabor has almost gotten healthy, still 1 or 2 starters out.

ashbrook is the third place team in their conference. they should not be seeded as a conference champ.
