As much discussion as there has been on this issue, it comes down to this...
If you want your kid to play at another school that is not his home school. Then Move. Keep it legal. We do have to make changes for our kids sometimes. If they have to sit out a season, there are rules and reasons for them. Obey the rules and teach your kid that he is not above them. However, If it is not legal to play at a school and someones playing at a school behind the scenes, using a another address or whatever, it is straight up wrong. Why would anyone even want to do this? And is a coach knows , why would he risk his team?

Who knows, but it's a part of the game and it's not going away. No matter what we want. I still say we should respect the parents to do what they think is best for their child. Someone else sets the rules and enforces them. That's not our job.

    Great Post Putt

There are several reasons people would want to use a false address and play at another school. They like the school better. They like the coaches better. They like program better. More playing time. They like the girls better. They like the house they are in. They dont want to move.

If you were to note at the end of my run on some of the bad points. I did note that there were positives also. I still do not think that you can compare what occurs in transfering to a new HS to a job. The fact is in high school most players do just that play for their school. Some make it to play in college. Then maybe a hand make it to the majors minor league system. Then out of all that one or two make it to the show. I do like this one: "Do you stay in a career you don't like just because you are comfortable? I ask this question when I hire people with experience. When looking at someone with 20 years in an industry, I ask, " Do they really have 20 years of experience or one year's experience 20 times?" " With that said. Would you hire twenty solid years at a company or 20 one year's at several?

You being a dad of a fine young man. You as I will try to do everything within our power to let them pursue what they would. And You the same as I know when we need to say no. This is what you choose work though it.

That makes them ineligible. It puts the player at risk for getting caught breaking the eligibility rules and puts the team at risk for having to forfeit games.

I love it when we say that there are rules out there and yet we all know of cases that these rules are being violated. I say put in a waiting period of some type. If is so important to move to play a sport during HS why not have some type of waiting period. Does college not have one? (really not sure on that rule). Then enforce it. Check to see if they have moved. No calls, duke power bills ect.. I could prove to you that I live in SC with that is all you check. Go by at 7:00 or so, stop by on a weekend. There are ways. Then if there is a proven violated have a penalty. We as parents should in all fairness to our kids as others players should be mindful that Championships can be taken away for rule violations. So we need to ask those questions of our new players. It would be great to win a State Championship. Then a week later have it stripped because of rule violations.

If you want to move to another school, most definitely keep it legit. And I agree that it really is a family's decision. But when a family is making this decision, do they ever consider how the move will impact the team they're leaving? Or for that matter, the coach who is no longer good enough for their son? As hard as it may be to believe, coaches do have hearts, and your moves and your comments and your criticisms often leave wounds that affect the coach and the program. That's not saying that every decision a coach makes is right or even good sometimes, but moving for more playing time or better "exposure" is self serving and disingenuous.

Well said Plate dad. there are crack downs and investigations for transfers to make sure its all good. Its like in state tuition, you gotta live there to get it. There are harsh penalties of you get caught trying to beat the system., Its not worth it.
