Braves , you are fair and supportive, your previous posts show that you care for all players.

Didnt mean that at all. Its how some feel though. Also Im just saying people should be able to choose what is best for them in public schools.

I'm not being confrontational at all here, I'm just curious as to your opinion, but what exactly would be the difference? One chooses school for academics, one for athletics. Because the fact of the matter is some people are better than others at everything. I know I can't sing a note, so going to say NC School of the Arts wouldn't be high on my priority list. But for a person that can sing, that's probably a good move. On the other hand, some people excel in sports. So why would it be wrong to send a player that excels in sports to a school that excels in sports? Now if this school can't produce a student that can qualify on the SAT then that's another story. That's not the case in most schools though, as most do a decent job of preparing students for college. So, if the academic requirements are met, what issue is it to choose a school based on athletics?

And for those that think if a player is good enough they will be found. Well, I have to agree and disagree on that. I know of a guy that ended up going to an ACC school to play baseball on scholarship and he didn't have an offer anywhere else. He played all four years there. The reason I use this example is this school was the only school to come see him play. So, your name may be heard by scouts but being on a better team increases your chances of being SEEN. There is a difference. Travel teams and showcases make that not as relevant any more, but for players that don't have access to a travel team, maybe high school/legion is the only chance they have to be seen, and if they are on a bad team most of the time they won't be seen. Why? Because scouts can't take the time out of their schedule to see one player play, unless he's really special. They are going to be more productive and see the really special player or go to a game where 3 or 4 prospects may be playing (better baseball schools). As for word of mouth from scouts...sometimes that works. Sometimes the scouts "shake the bushes" for prospects and if they find out about one that they think no one knows about they don't spread the word because that increases their chances of getting him.

Anyway, sorry to take up so much space. Just had a lot to say I guess.

Not in Guilford County as it relates to IB programs. Each IB school has other HS districts that feed in to it. If you choose to go the IB route you have to attend the school you are assigned. Now if there are other circumstances it can vary. But based purely on transferring for a stronger academic program, you have to go in your district.

    recruiting the HS's

if you just throw it open and let kids (well actually arranged by their parents) play anywhere they wish...............................look out for all forms of unethical recruiting tactics by coaches.
    talk about stacking a team.......:dizzy2:

sorry, such an idea will never fly.

In Mecklenburg County you have to sit a year if you transfer from public school to private school. So there is not much recruiting going on in that scenario, which is interesting, since Charlotte Christian has always been accused of recruiting. Not sure about the reverse scenario of going from private to public, but not sure there is a waiting period for that.
