I'm similar. I cheer for all the kids, I socialize at the games, love seeing everyone, have a great time. However when my son goes to the mound I stick to myself, don't say a word to anyone, definitely don't say anything or even cheer for my son. I usually stand well down the RF line and pace back and forth staying out of his view.

That is something that is common with all parents of pitchers. If you don't have a son that pitches, then you will never know the demons those parents have to go through...its like a pitcher's parent fraternity. Most parents watch every ball and strike; a pitcher's parent "feels" each pitch (that's about the best I can do to explain it)

Exactly, Braves. There were two types of games for me when Mac was in HS. The ones he started at first base were the ones I relaxed, socialized, enjoyed the ballpark sounds, etc. The ones he started on the mound were the ones where the knot in the stomach started about the time the alarm clock went off in the morning and got progressively worse through the day. The games themselves were emotional rollercoasters, living and dieing on every pitch. All the close calls went against us. Its a wonder my heart survived those years.

    Kenny May

The person that I enjoy watching and talking to and listening to during a baseball game is none other than Kenny May.

Being a great high school baseball coach, I think he thoroughly enjoys just getting a chance to sit back and watch a game, however, I don't think that he knows how to do this.

I had the opportunity to enjoy alot of ballgames with Kenny this past summer and fall and it is a pleasure to sit back and watch the in and outs of a game and listen to Kenny analyze players and plays. He notices more about what is happening on the field and off in a single game, than most notice in a lifetime. Before the game even starts, he already has a working idea of who the players are to watch and who is going to be the most difficult outs.

The funny part about it all is he can't be still! You can be talking to Kenny about what is transpiring on a play or happening in the game, and you turn and listen to what he has to offer and he has ended up somewhere in the outfield talking with someone else. You turn back around and next thing you know, he is right back beside you finishing up what you had started talking about. I THINK HE HAS THE POWER OF TELEPORTATION.........

I don't think I have ever been around someone who just enjoys the game, players, and strategy as much as he does. When he watches a game, you can see the joy on his face and the excitement in his voice. Then there is the occassional bantering of umpires or a call that completely catches you off guard and you just have to sit back and laugh.

This is a man that is going to wear a path out completely around UNC's new park and if you get a chance you should walk it with him.

Man how I miss Steve and Pam Buchanan. They are the type of people you will never forget and the love for the game they had and for the smiles they brought to your face. I loved every parent from the On Deck team in 03-04. They all made my life greater and of all the teams I played for, that is the team in which I wish I could go back and spend another weekend with. From the players, families, and coaches they were the best ever.

BTW, I do not make up stories, I just post the truth. You have gone to long on here posting those crazy fishing stories about how you caught Moby Dick using a broom stick, 10 feet of yarn, and a orange peel.

I'm hurt...you make it sound as if it weren't true. What most people don't realize is that I released him and the rest, as they say, is history!

If you don't believe me, ask my attorney, Haskell Willingham. Now Haskell is a bit "touched", but he doesn't lie. Did I show you his law office? Between the time he was a fishing guide on Santee Cooper and being a farmer raising Emu's, Haskell completed a form online to a school that sent him an attorney certificate. Haskell uses his office as both a fishing guide and law office.
