He is everything said here and more!! The finest man I have ever worked with as far as giving of himself for kids that want to learn the game. Also he is one of the finest Christian men I know. There has never been a day I was with him that i didnt learn something!!

Best of all, I can call him a true friend!!

One of the things he helps me with is whenever I am around Mark, I am usually mindful of cleaning up my, sometimes, colorful language. But when I am around Cindy, his beautiful wife, I am always mindful.

What I learned from Mark is astonishment. I am astonished the eating habits of this very fine man. The fact that the restaurant, "Golden Corral", actually has posted in each of their stores a sign that says, "Mark Tarleton (with picture)- you, sir, must order off the menu" leads one to believe that his reputation preceeds him. But the astonishment comes from the fact that he never gains weight.

    He is a legend

As long as there is a TBR, he will never be forgotten.

    Marvin Jarman

Marvin is Mr. Rose High School here in Greenville. For y'all that don't know Marvin or have ever heard of him, Marvin is in his late 50's I guess and is a man with some developmental disorders yet he has some expertise and brilliance that is in contrast to his overall limitations. I don't know if he qualifies as a savant but he's close. He is sort of like our Rain Man.

Marvin may forget how to tie his shoes but his memory, particularly with numbers is unbelieveable. You give him a date of a baseball game Rose played 18 years ago and he can recall the score, stats, etc of that game. He will tell you what player went 3 for 4 and who pitched. If you ask him, he will recite in order all of the presidents from George Washington on down and he will give you the dates they were in office yet if you ask him some routine question, he may appear confused.

He attends most all of Rose ballgames, no matter what sport. He is the guy that runs onto the football field to get the Rose kicking tee. He is Ronald Vincent's (Rose baseball coach) constant companion. It is rare to see one without the other. He is even listed as an assistant baseball coach and will be with RV for the meeting with the umpires prior to the game. In Rose baseball practices, Marvin will sometimes be a field umpire. A player could be out by 10 feet but if Marvin says he is safe, then he is safe.

Marvin is so popular he has a street named after him next to Rose. RV says that when he goes somewhere in eastern NC, people don't ask him how he is doing, they ask him how Marvin is doing.

A Rose baseball game is not complete without Marvin there, even he is asleep in the dugout.

Whenever Marvin takes his last breath (hopefully many, many yrs from now), his funeral will be the biggest funeral Greenville has ever seen.

He does qualify as a GREAT man....Marvin begged me to do play by play for one of the Greenville Babe Ruth State Tournament games and reluctanly I said yes and we ended up having a blast. What a super nice guy.

Man...what a great story. He will be the 1st person I ask to meet when Rose plays in the Impact Challenge the first of the season. It gives me an added excitement to attend that event

Coach, I'm with you there...I named my son after my Dad and every time I hear his name announced, well, I can't help remember back to the days when he was catching me in the front yard. The best of times, I just hope my kid remembers our time and passes it on one day...
