    A pleasure.....

Probably the best atmosphere around a game that I've been at all year! The players were pumped about the game, but showed the respect and friendship for eachother during it. I enjoyed seeing players that I had not seen before. All of them held up to the talk about them on this board. A great ending to the season. Hats off to these players and all those who are working hard to forfill their dreams................

    I agree 3play

Braves Im sorry I did not introduce my wife to you. I was distracted by 3play! Just kidding it was great to finally meet you. And I also met Dawgswood. Man his kid is really good. The BP was a blast. I have never seen so many balls hit out in one BP session in my life.

The HR derby at the end was alot of fun as well. Shaffer Goodwin and Meyers vs May Maynard and Baldwin. Now that was fun. Im glad it ended in a tie. The fun thing was that park is pretty big. 350' down the left field line 370' in the alleys and 400' to cf. They were putting it out like it was a little league park. Amazing.

The game was a blast. So many good players on the field at one time. The hitters were so good 1-9 there was no relief for the pitchers. But I thought considering the fact that many had not pitched since Jupiter they did a great job. It was the best HS baseball event I have been to. The college coaches were all talking about it. Many said it was the best environment they had been to. One thing for sure is the unsigned 09's were the big winners in this one. All of them.

Next year: Top 15 08's NC vs Top 15 08's SC
    Top 15 09's NC vs Top 15 09's SC

Now that would be awesome. But it would have to go to beat this event. It was outstanding.

It was kind of tough on us parents though. I was sitting there with Ben Fish's dad and Tyler Joyner's. I was pulling for our hitters and pitchers and they were pulling for theirs. When my son got up to face Joyner both of us just kind of looked at each other and laughed. Then his son hits my boy. We both just laughed. It was a great experience for the players and the parents.

    Carlton Fisk Impression?

Braves how did you like Jeff's Carlton Fisk impression on that HR down the left field line? Had to have it to tie , goes about 50' over top of the left field foul pole. Fair or foul? It was really funny to watch. The boys had a blast.

I had walked away when the homerun derby was going on. I wish I would have seen that part. When I walked back up one of the 08's was walking away from the plate. I didn't know what had taken place until my son asked me after the game if I had seen the HR derby.

Now top NC players against top SC players now that's moving forward. What would be even better is Top NC players against Top Florida, Texas or California players. That would be interesting as well! When will Impact and Stretchlon put this together?

Agree that would be am event. Had college visit this weekend. Sorry I missed it. I would like to see the addition of more unsigned players. It would be great for the coaches and scouts to maybe see something new.

    This was something new.

11 of the 09's have not signed. This was an opportunity for the college coaches to see some of the very best 09's in the state compete against some of the very best 08's in the state.

It was basically an All Star HS game. It also gave coaches like Billy Godwin at ECU and Mike Fox at UNC a chance to see several of their guys play. And even more importantly imo it gave several college coaches an opportunity to see these 09's compete together against the best competition possible.

That has been happening for 3 years now. Surprised it hasn't gathered momentum as a bigger event.

And SuperWright, I couldn't believe how big your son is! And what great stuff. His first FB clocked in at 89. He showed why ECU was salivating.

    Thanks, Braves,
Sorry, I didn't get a chance to meet you Saturday. Hopefully, we will meet in a future event.
My son is tall but he needs to fill in a little. Almost 6'6" and 175 lbs on a good day! Hopefully, he can gain 10-15 lbs between now and start of HS baseball. 89 mph FB was definately a good number considering how cold it was. His curve ball looked good even though a lot of them were called as a ball. He still has a lot of room for improving. I can't wait until late February.
The Impact Futures Game was definately a success! It's real exciting to see that many great players on the field playing against each other. I know there were some players missing Saturday that deserve to be there but the one's that were there were outstanding! Way to go Andy for putting together so much talent.

I'll look back on some old posts to try to find it, but it is always held in Myrtle Beach (sometime in June). It is an invitational type game much like the State Games format...seniors only.
